Help, steering servo cannot center
Hi,
I am using ko propo RSx3-one10 Ver.D Lite as my steering servo, my car is Yokomo yd2s, radio is ko exrr Everything are very new, the problem is when I turn left, then back to center, I need to manually turn right just a very very little bit in order to make it dead center. The same problem happen no matter I am turning left or right in the first place, it just will not go center and is very very slighly off. I check linkage and it has some play, and I think ot is normal, screw are not over tight. Below are video showing the problem, any help would be appreciated |
The linkage needs to be totally free and fall by its own weight. I would also get your toe set to where it will be ran at before you judge. Then there is only one of 2 things left. Your servo could be the culprit or your radio as well. You can perform an entire reset on the KO EXRR that performs an entire recalibation and is recommended by KO to perform this when the radio is brand new before it’s first use. I have seen something as minor as a steering spring without enough tension causing something very similar but also servo potentiometer issue or simply not enough torque is the culprit if everything else is performed

Also manually turning the wheels rapidly by hand is not a good practice. A small electrical current can be generated by doing this and backfeed to your other electronics

Check with another servo, it could be within the transmitter.

Make sure you have the correct servo horn. I've seen something similar where the servo horn was not the correct one so quick movements basically acted like the servo wouldn't center.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the response, I have tear down everything and rebuild the steering, recal my radio. and I think the problem is not about the servo nor radio, it is the play of my steering which cause the problem, from my first video above at 5 sec onward, you can see I can slightly turn the wheel using my fingers whithout apply force to the servo, so this is the play of my steering linkage. So the servo do return to center, but since it has play, the wheel has off center very slightly, strange it seems no problem when on track. For the sake of chasing perfection, do this level of steering play normal? The play are come from ball joint and upper A arm, I can turn the wheel about 1 to 2 degrees whithout forcing the servo. Second question is, how can I reduce the play? Thanks |
Is there any other way you can set the steering links? Either bell crank or hub?
Is there a way to bring the inner tie rod farther back? |
I guess it depends on how you are running this car.. setup for drifting perfect center doesn’t matter as much.
the steering looks to have lots of adjustments depending on what this amazing car is going to do. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...97cbdcbf10.png |
I would start with your transmitter
trim tab for steering I had a similar problem like that |
