Silly question
Can you actually slow down the servo speed ? I was driving my mini 8ight truggy and was having a hard time lining up my jumps and overall tracking after Turns it seems like the wheels just turn really fast with the upgraded servo any options on that ? |

Expo can also help with sensitive steering.

Steering exponential, other times called "dual rates". Your radio may have those as well. |
And last option just go easy with your fingers. If you go slow with the fingers the servo will go slow as well.

Expo and dual rates are not the same thing. Expo can be used to soften the steering around center (or increase). Dual rates limit the maximum travel by a switch. It sounds like expo is what you want.

I have grown to dislike Expo steering because it will cause the car to act inconsistent in the chicanes where you get decent control of steering for the first half of the turn then all of a sudden you get snap over steer as the expo fades out... don't use any more than 25% expo to help reduce the snap over steer issue it creates.
I will only use the "Steering Speed" feature now, you can also increase the diameter of the steering wheel to help reduce the steering rate, this will be linear and not expo which is ideal if you don't have the Steering Speed option available on your radio. I have seen some folks use foam weather stripping to increase the diameter of their steering wheels as an effective/inexpensive option, then they wrap the foam with an AKA rubber band for gluing tires. Good Luck! |
I have used Exponential in my steering since like 1993 and to me its great it will not slow down servo speed at all..some radios can slow down servo speed in setting.Ive used as high as 27 many years ago but with advancements in radios Im at about -17 now.....If it was me Id buy a servo that suits your needs .apparently the 1 you have now is to fast for you....larger steering wheel wont work either ...if your tying to fix something go to the source start there..what servo did you like for steering?what do you have now? might start with less than half the speed difference ….
