Do you run the V5R? Is it that much better than the V4S? They have the V4S for AUD80 vs AUD135 for the V5R - is it worth the extra?

No, I haven't personally used the V5R. I've got the V4S and it doesn't seem to be holding me back.

I'm in the same boat, the V4S isn't holding me back. The only reason for a new motor is for a new car, my son has now got a second car so I can either put a really old motor in it for him, or buy another for one of mine and swap one of mine into his. Not looking to replace mine but nows the time to if I am going to. I tend to run my stuff for a while, don't try motor of the month, too expensive!

Hi, does anyone have a base setting for 17.5T , 2wd and 4wd Buggy set up? Can timing and FDR or Rollout ranges?

What timing is working for people on these motors? I have a V5R 21.5T for FF TC blinky racing. The guy I bought it off says he leaves his at factory timing (30deg) but that seems a bit low?

Also the FDR? I have an FF04 Evo which has an internal ratio of 2.6 so low FDR's are difficult. I can get down to 3, that should hopefully be low enough? I run 3.1 in my 4wd TC in 21.5T blinky so I expect a fwd to be lower still?

I see on Surpass's aliexpress site that there is a spec 10.5 and a mod 10.5 motor. I can't find the mod 10.5 motor for sale anywhere else though. I emailed their usa site but haven't gotten a response. Anyone here know anything about it?

I bought. V5R from surpassracing’s website

it stopped working after less than 20 runs

a month later and still no response to my emails asking for help/advice from them

possibly Chinese New Year vacation if they’re based there

but just to share I can’t get any help with a broken V5R

i didn’t think it was that fast btw

overall ran cool but even with some timing advance and larger pinion I think the X-factor is significantly faster in the same model running the same pinion/spur combo

i was burned on the straights

overall a B+ when it was working

EDIT: mine was a 17.5

B+ setup. Good motors. Local drivers have won 2x 1/12 13.5 events and 2x 13.5 tc events with it.

Does Surpass have a 13.5t motor? I want to run it on 2wd stadium truck.
Where can I buy one?
