Default Fake Hobbywing and Castle on Ebay by puogyun-336?

Hobbywing EZRUN Max6 160A for just $49.88? That's a $159.00 item!

Neu-Castle 1512 1Y 2650Kv for just $22.99? That a $149.00 item!

Seller Puogyun-336 has a 99.1% rating with 105 reviews. His/Her store sells wildly varied items, not just RC stuff. I'd love to buy a Max6 for under $50 or a Castle 1512 for under $25, but that's just way too good to be true. I did a bunch of searches on RCTech.net trying to find info on this store or on fake Max6 ESC's in general. No luck. Can anyone here shed light on this Ebay seller or on this sales tactic in general? How can the seller have such a high rating? I have no idea what can or can't be faked on Ebay.

THANKS!

Wow, I'm surprised they were real. I have no idea how they can sell those items so cheaply. Maybe stolen?

I can confirm that the motor listed is a counterfeit motor. We report those to ebay all the time, but the sellers just setup a new account and keep selling them. It might be mechanically similar to our older design from about 8 years ago, but it does not have any warranty nor does it go through our extensive QA process.

Hi Robert, Thank you for that clarification. It's a real shame that they keep getting away with it. You'd think that they'd have more negative feedback. 99.1% with 104 ratings is pretty high for a counterfeit seller.

Not really. If the motors work then I understand why they are getting good ratings. However, 91.1% is a pretty low rating for an eBay seller. I would be hesitant to order from anyone below 95%.

I mistyped the rating. It was actually 99.1%. I should have caught that because I rarely buy from anyone with under a 98 rating.

What makes them the "real deal", and not fake/counterfeit?

In the last month they accumulated all their negative feedback, red flag right there!

Overall eBay has become my go to for RC stuff. There’s something I don’t trust about listing like these.

Few years ago I remember another thread, different forum, about similar listings. If remember right it was motors that hadn’t passed quality inspection for one reason or another

Another thing to note is that Hobbywing does not warranty escs purchased through eBay even if the seller is an authorized hobby shop.

If its too good to be true, it probably is. Also, avoid sellers that have been inactive for long periods of time. Its an indication their account was hacked.

Scammers will hijack legitimate seller's accounts, to use their good feedback. They then post large amounts of these "too good to be true" deals. The buyer receives nothing in the end, and has to open a dispute. Somehow the scammer runs off with the paypal funds.
