Default Traxxas VXL esc and 17.5 motor?

Hey guys just curious, will the stock Traxxas VXL brushless speed control handle a basic 17.5 motor for 17.5 racing? Thanks

I'm sorry, but the VXL ESC is sensorless only. It can't run sensored.

i believe he was referring to the motor not the speed controller.

im a bit curious is the 17.5 motor so you can step in to a stock class?

if so you may want to look at at swaping out the speed controller too, most 17.5 stock classes are locked spec classes. meaning that they a just timing off end bell only. something that the vxl can't do, id look a something like a hobbywing juststock, tekin make a good couple offering too.

if its not a lock spec class an a mod class kindly let me reinsert my foot in my mouth

This may not be true Traxxas like to do rolling updates with out changing the sale code. He may have a earlier version with out a sensor port. Just like there's a 2pole and a 4pole velineon motor. Both are 3500kva and 3s compatible. Newer one are 4pole older one are 2pole. Just because of the number of different versions of vxl-3s out there it safer to assume that's there a none sensor version.

ok i tripped over a form that could accurately distinguish between the two vxl-3 esc the 3355x earlier ver. and the 3355r current version(i think, don't know. don't care enof). while trying to find a pic with will w and w/o sensor port. it does show the earlier one with the sensor port not the later one. so i will eat my foot on those two facts.

the issues i had with the post,

that i was trying to point out. that WE doen't know the ver. of vxl-3 that he has. telling him that vxl-3 has a sensor port when the version 3355r doesn't. so unless you got insider information on his particular esc. thats were my issues lie

Itís actually the VXL 3S which can run sensored, sensorless and brushed motor set ups. So I just need to find out if the 17.5 SCT class thatís running locally is running a sensored or sensoredless setup. Then I need to decide WHICH 17.5 to run..🤦🏻*♂️🤷🏻*♂️

Thanks for all the input guys!
