Motor help.

Hi all, Ima newbie here.

Im wondering about brushed motor choice:

I have this ARRMA Granite MEGA 2x2, with the stock 15T motor in it atm, but I have a TAMIYA 540J beside me, whitch one is "better"? (Faster?)

Thanks for help.

  1. Haven’t seen much for that truck here. I’m not familiar with the Tamiya motor. If it’s an simple swap, most brushed motors I’ve had are plug in connectors. Only way to find out is try.

I don't know the 540J but a webpage found via google says its a 27T motor so the stock Arrma 15T should be faster.

I just tried it, and it was slower..

That stock motor is a 550 motor right? I would stick with a 550 size motor. A 540 will have less torque and heat up faster, which means it won't last as long. Holmes hobbies makes a nice cheap 550 brushed motor, called trail master sport I believe, for 20 bucks. Or just go brushless. Brushed motors don't last long, you'll be replacing them often

Brushless Motor and ESC Combo..

Hi all,

I was wondering in this "Combo" could be any good för My ARRMA Granite MEGA 2x2:

Hobbywing QUICRUN-WP-10BL60 60A Waterproof Brushless ESC

And

SKYRC LEOPARD 10T 3930KV BL Brushless Motor for 1/10 1/12 Car Truck ON/OFF road

Im hoping, You all arent tired of my questions ;P

That motor will probably struggle, I think those motors with the fins are essentially a 380 sized motor in a 540 sized can. Look for a motor that has something.5 turns, like 10.5T or 13.5T. You probably also want a bigger motor, like the 550 sized, although a decent 540 size should be ok, it may get hot and require a smaller pinion. You are probably pushing the limits of that ESC too if you run a 4000kv motor, it would be more suited to 3000kv. You should probably look for a 120amp ESC to be safe
