FlySky Noble NB4
#751

Anyone use this with a mamba monster or mamba X? I can't seem to calibrate with castle ESCs. I have it in calibration mode, then won't go past the throttle part to brake. NB4 is set at maximum throw EPA. The hobbywing XR8 calibrates perfectly with it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Works perfectly with my original Mamba Monster.
Is your signal inverted by any chance? Menu => top left icon with the text "rev" there the "throttle" part can be set to normal and reverse.

I really like my FlySky NB4, but this winter we've started racing Mini-z cars and I would really like to be able to use my nice radio.
Have anyone been able to mod it with a Multiprotocol module?

Very true, I tried it and it works great. But it involves a rebuild with new ESC, a converter for the servo and the receiver.
I would like to be able to bind with the original board.
Mr Beaver, the oracle of everything 1/28, told me that the NB4 didn't have a PPM signal so this multimodule thing wouldn't work. Too bad.

The FGR4S has no external antenna, which explains why it has shorter range than the FGR4. But when it's in range, how does its interference rejection compare with the FGR4?

If it ain't broke....😒

So I got the noble to play around with, currently using the M17 on my vehicles, and was wondering is there a way one of the switches on the handle grip can make dual rate go from 30% to 100%? The “oh shit” button is mainly used in oval to turn a spun out car around. Really like the feel of the noble but can’t seem to figure out if the dual rate switch is possible.

I bought an NB4 from the latest batch Hobbyking had in stock last week. I wasn't sure if this thing would live up to the hype, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how good this radio really is.
The last two radios I used were both Sanwas - an MX-3 (crystal radio) and an MX-3X (2.4GHz). Both were great budget friendly radios that had the features I needed and were really well made. Unfortunately after about 8 years the MX-3X developed a steering glitch I couldn't fix and so here I am with an NB4.
The NB4 is definitely a step up from both of those radios. The build quality/feel of the NB4 is just as good, if not just better, than the Sanwas. The feature set of the NB4 is far greater than either of my old Sanwas (though it might not be too fair of a comparison - even brand new those Sanwas were the "entry level" options and they actually cost less than the NB4 when I bought them). The response time on the NB4 blows both radios out of the water - I never realized how laggy the MX-3X was until getting the NB4. I can't help but think of how much that MX-3X was holding me back on the track for all these years.
Using the NB4 as a controller for VRC was incredibly easy as well - I just plugged the radio in to the USB port on my computer, turned the radio on, the computer recognized the radio, and in VRC I just had to select the NB4 as the controller. No futzing around with installing drivers or configuring anything, really just plug and play. I also like that I can play VRC without having to use a receiver.
Anyway, I've only had the radio for a few days now but my initial impressions, if you couldn't tell, are overwhelmingly positive especially in comparison to the radios I'm used to. I was little scared since my experience with a Flysky GT3B about 5 years ago was really bad, but the NB4 is a giant leap in quality and performance.

The biggest improvement I get out of this radio is how much better and more controllable all my cars feel. My guess is this is due to the low latency of the radio, but every car I drive with this feels way easier to control and way more "connected" to me, if that makes any kind of sense.
I have a track in my basement to run my mini-b and now that I've got the NB4 running the mini-b it's amazing to me how that direct/connected feel from the radio is translating to better driving on my part. I am for sure faster and more consistent around the track, and then when you add in the adjustability of things like the trigger position, steering tension, all the expo adjustments I never had before and it just really lets me dial in exactly how I want everything to feel which helps my driving even more.
I don't think it's possible for me to be more pleased by a radio than I am with this one.

Regarding the telemettelemetry, voltage, rpm, temperature all
Most of the iBus protocols don't work. E.g. fuel level.

I was on .85 FCC and upgraded to .93 FCC. When the process finished, it asked me to update the RF. When I did, it informed me that I was installing a lower number firmware. Just wondering if that was right. all my RX's, including MZ Evo all updated fine with the additonal updater. Pretty cludgey system, but hey, updates are updates, cant complain about support I suppose. Still didn't fix typos in the UI. LOL.
