Looking at Flysky stuff on this website.
NB4+, accessories, receivers, etc. Anyone buy a NB4+ there? Is it the EN version? Is this a reputable site? Do they ship from the USA or overseas? Long ship times? Just curious. Don’t want to offend, but want to make sure it’s not a fraudulent site. Thank you in advance for your insight. It's EN english version NB4+ radio. It's reputable site. It shipped from CN. It takes around 6-9 days to the USA. |

Calvin Kong What magic trick do I need to perform to get the FlySky Assistant to work on a MacBook?

Any reason you didn't buy the Pro one? Wireless charging is awesome, I just set my controller down and it charges. Don't have to worry about cables.

Yes....

It has MAC version Flysky assistant software on the Flysky official website. Did you try it?
EDIT: I downloaded the software again this morning, It connected after 45minutes of trying, however the software is unusable. When I click on anything the system spins for 20-30 MINUTES before anything changes. Literally every mouse click results in a 20-30minute spinning ball, absolutely useless. Since I cannot update the firmware to anything newer than 2.0.102std that is on my unit currently, how can I stop the "UPDATE FIRMWARE NOW" hard stops I get while racing.......? Currently I have to power off and on the unit anywhere from 1 to 5 times before it allows me to actually use the controller. |
Maybe you should try to run it in an older windows compatibility mode.

That is the download that doesn't appear to be working. I downloaded it again this morning and launched it again and it just gives me the "Connecting to Server" blue box in perpetuity and it never ever connects after hours of slow spinning. It clearly isn't working as intended.

The other half of the equation is updating the firmware on ALL your receivers. If you update the firmware on the Tx, but don't update the firmware on The Rx, you could end up with other problems (not saying you 'will', only that you 'could'). But, before you start ANY firmware updates, you need to remember to back up (ie. "Export") all of your model memories to your computer using FlySky Assistant. Then, once the first update is complete, restore (ie. "Import") the model memories back into the Tx. The best format to follow for updating is as follows: 1) Using FlySky Assistant, backup/export all model memories, from the Tx, to your computer. 2) Update the Tx firmware via the firmware update file/app (ie. NOT via FlySky Assistant...at least, until they fix whatever 'bug' is causing the problem). 3) Restore/Import all model memories back into the Rx 4) Using the Receiver Updater app, update the firmware on ALL receivers. |

First, and foremost, I'm guessing you haven't been posting attention to all the "firmware updating via FlySky Assistant" problems that lots of people have reported...and, that's ok. No one expects everyone's to know. For some unknown reason, even though part of what FlySky Assistant was designed to do is make it easier to update the firmware on FlySky transmitters, it has been anything but. If you watch YouTube videos, you'll see how many people have had problems updating the firmware via Assistant. The better/safer/easier/faster way to update the firmware is by downloading the self-contained firmware updater. There are 4 versions listed - 2 FCC versions, and 2 STD (standard) versions, work one of each for EN, and one of each for EU. I will admit that I don't know if these updater file-apps can be run on a Mac, or whether they're Windows-only. What I do know is, I have never been able to complete a firmware update via FlySky Assistant.

THANK YOU !!! That makes 100% sense. What is the danger or downside of NOT updating my firmware....? Honestly I am "fine" with how my stuff works right now and if I could avoid the damn hard stops I get on my transmitter I would probably never update the damn firmware. Ever. |

Honestly I am "fine" with how my stuff works right now and if I could avoid the damn hard stops I get on my transmitter I would probably never update the damn firmware. Ever. Of course, there are also valid reasons for not updating firmware. If I remember correctly, several firmware versions ago on the NB4, before the ability to 'downgrade' became possible, there was a firmware released that, almost immediately, started causing problems. Within 2 days of the firmware becoming available, FlySky pulled the firmware. Thankfully, the vast majority of NB4 owners hadn't installed the firmware update...but, for the few (by 'few', I don't know how many...could have been a couple dozen, it a could thousand) that already had, their radios became useless until FlySky released a 'corrected' firmware 2-3 weeks later. As for firmware updates for the receivers, I have no knowledge, or understanding, regarding how necessary it is, as the FlySky system is the first I've ever had where the receivers were firmware-upgradable. |
Flysky Assistant is the worst. The issue is it has to connect to a server in China that serves the entire world, so it's horribly laggy and way overloaded. Even though I run all Macs, I keep a Windows laptop around just to update all of my Chinese RC devices, most of which don't support Mac (decently). Trying to update at a time when most of the world is asleep will probably yield best results.
The self-contained file sounds cool, but I've never tried it. |
Does anyone have the flysky assistant V1.1 file that they can link me??
My Noble is still on the 2.0.83 firmware and I think I need the older assistant to update it... |

The self-contained file sounds cool, but I've never tried it. To get the self-contained firmware, just go to the product page for the specific radio (yes, that means, if you have multiple FlySky radios, you have to download a different executable for for each different radio model), click on "Downloads & Upgrades" (same page you would have downloaded FlySky Assistant from), and then download whichever version (Standard, or FCC) of the most recent firmware that you want. Once downloaded, plug the radio into your computer, go to "Update" in the radio settings, and then open the firmware executable on the computer. The rest is, pretty much, self explanatory. Whole updating the firmware via this method is considerably better (and, again, faster) than doing it through FlySky Assistant, you still need to backup (ie. 'Export') to model settings before updating the firmware, and then restore (ie. 'Import') them after updating the firmware, both via FlySky Assistant, thus, you still have to deal with the "Connecting to server" problem...unless, that is, you get the offline version of FlySky Assistant. And, yes, there IS an offline version, made specifically for Export & Import ONLY...it does not have the ability to update firmware. Normally, in order to get it, you need to contact FlySky. Depending on 'who' receives the email, they might, it might not, be aware of it. I received it directly from FlySky's executive in charge of Sales & Marketing. |

Instead of trying to update via FlySky Assistant, you should go to the FlySky website, go to the product page for your Noble radio (since you didn't indicate whenever you have the Noble NB4, Noble Pro, or the recently-released Noble NB4+), and download the self-contained firmware update.
Agreed about FlySky Assistant. The "having to connect to a server" is a 'problem'...ESPECIALLY when it takes a long time (sometimes, as much as 20 minutes) to connect. Advantages of updating the firmware via the self-contained executable are 1) no need for connecting to a server, and 2) the actual update process is a LOT faster than it is through FlySky Assistant. I've seen the different firmware versions, STD and FCC, but don't understand what the difference is and when you would use one over the other.
Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2 versions? |
FCC version allows a higher power output for the US, at the cost of less battery life.
