ESC comparison

Hey!
2 questions.

Mamba monster 2 vs HW WP-SC8:
So right now I’m running a sick RC8T3.1e with a tekin motor and spektrum rx/tx. Right now I’ve got a hobbywing WP-SC8 esc running 3s and it’s pretty freaking awesome, lots of speed, pulls jumps well, easy control, and best of all it stays cool even in the 1/8.

I’ve also got a Mamba Monster 2 esc that I’m thinking about swapping in. Would I gain any performance with the MM2 over the HW? I understand I can run bigger batts on the MM2, but I’m talking about sticking with 3s, no gear changes, just a straight swap. Would it gain shnoo power or torque or other advantages? If not I’m gonna use the MM2 in another car.

Question two:
Mamba monster 2 vs MMP

In any car, geared the same, would either the MM2 or the MMP have any advantages from one to the next? Ignoring sensored ability (My mmp sensor board is broke)

Thanks
-Shnoo

Probably not. If the hobbywing is working and not getting hot, then a different speed control is not going to give you any gains.

In general changing an esc shouldn't give you any extra top end performance unless you are hitting a thermal or current limit. In the Castle ESC you can increase sensorless motor timing to artificially increase the KV of the motor, but at a huge hit to motor efficiency, and we don't generally recommend anyone uses that setting.

MM2 vs MMP:
There shouldn't be any performance difference between the two. The MM2 will handle more power, but speed and acceleration should be the same between them. In sensorless mode they should run identically. They both use the same code base and there is very little difference in the motor drive algorithms between them. The biggest difference between them is the Monster has twice as many mosfets(36 vs 18) and is waterproof.
