Default I need 13.5T gearing help

I will be running a Maclan 13.5t short stack motor in 2 different stadium trucks. One a TLR 22T 3.0, and a ECX Circuit for my son. I want my son to get his feet wet with racing before I invest in a race grade truck. I believe the internal gear ratio for tlr is 2.43 and ECX is 2.6. The stock timing on the motor out of the box is set at 50 on the Maclan's. I'll be using a Hobbywing Quicrun 10bl 120 ESC if that matters.

I've never driven a 13.5t in a stadium truck, only mod Motors. What would you suggest for gearing for both of these trucks? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would contact the manufacturer or try to find a setup sheet from a pro driver running the same brand of motor... the current generation of short stack motors are all over the place with gearing ranging from 23/81 to 31/81 with different brands of 13.5T motors in the same 4WD Buggy I have raced with. When all else fails, check the manual with the motor to see if they provide a gearing chart, no matter what, be sure to check temps:
What gearing do I need to run for upgraded electronics in my car?

I called Maclan three days ago to talk with somebody. They told me that their Tech help is off-site and he would call me back. I'm still waiting for that phone call. The motor did not come with any manual, you have to download it from the website. Even then, the manual tells you nothing about gearing. I'm very dissatisfied with maclan customer service, and probably would not buy another one of their Motors. I think I'll stick with Tekin from now on.

The stadium truck has an IGR of 2.6. What would you recommend as a good starting point for spur and pinion size?

There is a gearing chart in the 22T manual that will give a safe gearing to start with for a 13.5 motor. From that information you can use a calculator to figure out the gearing on the other truck. For the kids truck you could turn down the motor timing 10-15° and gear it a few teeth lower to make the ECX slower if you think the 13.5 is a bit much.

thank you for the reply. I picked up the truck used, so I'll download the manual to check the gearing chart. Both maclan motors came with 50 degrees of timing out of the box. I'll leave the timing as is and turn his down if it seems to be too much.

75/21 is the recommended gearing in the tlr manual for a 13.5. I'll start there.

I looked up the AE T6.1 which has a internal gear ratio of 2.6, the same as my son's truck. The suggested gearing for a 13.5 of the t6.1 is 75/27. I'll start at 25-27 pinion on his truck and see how it goes.
