It is a rebrand of ZTW Beast 220Amp ESC...
I found a few bad review on it. But that all are 2-3 previous year review. I dont know if they have improve they quality. I may try it out if I have extra cash to blow.

FYI, you can get the ztw from aliexpress for much cheaper price

Is somebody using this ESC right now?
How does it compare to other companies?

Anyone? I'm thinking of getting one soon.

Edit: Ordered one since they're on sale for $130 from Amain right now.

Well, I got the Z8 today. You can use any of the HobbyStar LCD program boxes as they're also made by ZTW. You just have to use ZTW's Beast Pro software to flash the program box with the Reds firmware and it works fine. They're half the price as the Reds branded boxes.

Build quality is great externally. The housing is all metal and feels solid. I'm a little worried about it using a physical switch rather than a digital button. I've had receiver switches turn off on me in the past. We'll see if it stays on in a crash.

The only bad thing so far is the wires it comes with. They're all 10AWG but the terminals on the ESC itself are sized for 12AWG at most. The wires are simply too big. I soldered two of them on for the battery connector but it was such an ordeal I'm going to get some 12AWG wire to use for the motor. It's like they sourced the wire without even thinking about how big the ESC terminals are. Pretty silly stuff.

Anyways, I haven't wired it up to a motor or driven a servo with it to test the BEC at 7.4V. That'll come later. I did find out that Send It RC is also selling this ESC in the US under Rocket (Surpass Hobbies) branding for much cheaper than the Reds.

This new Reds ESC is awful. The BEC is great but using the same motor and gearing I've lost all of my top end. Full throttle feels like half throttle speeds. I barely got to practice for Lonestar today because I was trying to fix it. Tried recalibrating and adjusting the boost timing. Nothing helped. I'm lost.

It's officially dead. The fan died after the ESC made some weird noises. Sounded like a jittery servo.

I finally installed the replacement Z8 I got from Reds. Had to pay to ship the defective one back and the new one has the same problem. There's no power, no top end. It feels like I'm running on 3S rather than 4S. Avoid at all costs.

Sigh

been running mines for a year. No issues here. None. I’ve watch 2 reds factory drivers run them all summer with no issues. I think the Reds products are very good.
