Futaba 4PM

Does anyone know what this new 4PM is going to replace? The 4PV and 4PLS??? I looking at upgrading to a new racing radio. I have read that the current 4PV & 4PLS use the same software. Is the 4PLS the predecessor to the 4PV?? I would like to invest in something thats gonna be around for a while.
