RX4, RX8, Tekin ESCs, need help selecting...

Hi All

I want to try Tekin ESCs for backyard bashing (off-road). Looking for recommendations as Tekin has so many models I can hardly keep them straight.

I am looking for two recommendations:

1. Esc for “medium” cars:
3s, 550 sized motors (3660), 4lbs and below, 2wd and 4wd

2. Esc for “large” cars:
4s and 6s, 8th scale motors, 8-9 lbs, 4wd

I have trouble figuring out for example RX4 vs RX8 for 8th scale, and no idea which one is suitable for 10th scale bashing.

Thanks in advance.

For bashing I would use the RX4. They are 2-6s capable and water resistant(follow their precautions). Depending on what car you are using the size may be a problem, but for uniformity use the RX4 . If you want one of the 1/10 size esc the RSX with its better heat dissipation may be your best bet.

Thanks!

On a different note, is there a big difference between the RX8 Gen 2, vs Gen 3, for a non-racer (i.e. casual) user? Coming from Castle ESCs, I'd say I used maybe 5-6 features like drag brake, torque limiting, punch control, timing, and a few others... but maybe not the full set of features I see on the Tekins.

Nothing huge between 2 and 3 but I would always choose the latest when given the choice. The new soldering posts is nice to have for example.
