How much was the Acopian? So we can compare to the other options. Acopian has been my go to source for DC supplies at work for many years. Great company. Not inexpensive though so I never thought to buy from them for personal use.

I don't think the sources mentioned here are "modded" especially the 12V ones. They are connected in series to get 24V which as I mentioned can possibly create a shock hazard if the grounding is not done right. It is certainly better to just get a true 24 V supply but maybe cost prohibitive for some.

When I say it's silly, I'm referring to modding server power supplies and running them in series to get 48 VDC, when you can get purpose made power supplies that provide that voltage.

The 48 volt power supply was around $120, I got a spare 40 volt power supply that was around $100.

How many amps/watts for the 48V supply? I want to compare apples to apples.

I must be missing something then. I looked up the Acopian model in your photo, W48GT25
https://www.acopian.com/store/produc...l.aspx?q=i1377

Their price is $1125. Where/how did you get one for $120?

I see a couple of used ones on ebay for $299

Used from ebay. I got them a while ago though, not long after the 4010 was initially released.

so then this one new at progressive is a very good price at $219
https://www.progressiverc.com/mean-w...er-supply.html

almost the same at 1/5 the cost of a new Acopian. 23 amps at 110VAC or 33 amps at 220VAC. Like I said before, I buy Acopian's all the time at work. When I looked at them for RC use they seemed much more expensive then Progressive's Meanwells.

I hope you are the one that got it.

I have another acopian, but it's only 40 volt.
