squirrel cage battery connectors
 

I got lazy and installed some of these connectors to two of my cars. Last Saturday I had the worst electrical night mare ever, the car kept shutting off and turning on. It was close to Halloween, but really? I was going nuts changing wires and replacing batteries. I got home and noticed the connector was spinning. It wasn't maintaining a connection, so it caused it to shut down, and then later come back on. Needless to say I ordered some solid connectors from amain immediately. I really hope this solves the gremlins for awhile????

The cage is designed to spin. There's a slot on the cage that compresses when the connector is inserted that should create a positive connection with the center post. These aren't designed for high amperage draws. If you run them in a high amp system, they heat up and start melting your battery case.

Granted the solid connectors are the better ones, but you might have something else going on causing your issues.

You sure you're not just temporarily loosing power to the receiver and therefore having a temporarily disabled vehicle? Super common with Savox servos and other high draw servos. Might want to try a capacitor/glitch buster on the receiver.

I had issues with them "squirrel" cages (I call them bird cages) as well. I just soldered the cages so they don't rotate. I've had not one problem with them since, but I'm running low profile 4 pronged bullets in most of my RCs now.

Speaking of something else going on, I've already had some of my packs tube's solder joints come undone.

I ordered some new ones from AMAIN and they work great, they are made by Maclan and fit perfect. I have had problems in the past with the solids being too tight, but the Maclans fit great. Plus the price was right as well. After soldering the Maclans on, the problems disappeared.
