Throttle servo getting really hot NITRO
 
Does anyone else have a throttle servo that gets really hot after a nitro run? I have a REEDY High Speed all aluminum servo. Works great but gets really hot as compared to my steering servo on my 1/8 scale buggy.

I ran a Durango DNX408 for a while and it made the servo hot enough to cook the potentiometer inside the servo. I had to build a heat shield between the engine and servo. I also had to get a carbon fiber radio tray, space it off the chassis, and space the servo off the tray. I also cut the bottom out of the receiver box to let heat evacuate the servo. After all this I didn't have a problem.

Which car are you running?

He is running the serpent 811, throttle servo is well away from engine and exhaust..

mine gets warm too, idk about hot though.

is it malfunctioning? Running higher voltage than it is rated for?

Also, have you set the endpoints for the throttle on your radio? With the radio and car on (not the engine), hold the throttle wheel fully to one direction and reduce the EPA until you see the throttle linkage start to move and leave it there. Do the same for the brake. This will make sure that the servo isn’t straining at full lock.

Also, with the servo disconnected make sure that the throttle/brake links on your car move easily and freely too, otherwise this could overheat your servo.

Thanks everyone for responding.. my steering servo is fine but I will check the endpoints on the throttle. I think you’re right in that it’s straining 🤘
