Reedy SP5 25.5 is Banned

Reedy 25.5 spec motor removal
After an investigation and obtaining samples from three separate hobby stores, ROAR has found that some Reedy SP5 25.5 motors do not meet the minimum stator stack length requirement of 19.7 mm (Rule #11.3.7.5). Even though most are 100% within spec, some are not. Any modification of motor configuration or materials, following ROAR approval, is not allowed (Rule #11.3.2.4). Therefore, ROAR will be removing the Reedy 25.5 from the approved list effective at Noon (PST) on Friday, December 20, 2023. Once the manufacturing issue has been resolved, ROAR will require Reedy to submit the motor for new inspection and approval (Rule #11.3.2.3). In addition, ROAR has asked Reedy to add a laser etched – “A” to the resubmitted motor so that it can be easily distinguished from the previously approved version.

Easiest way to prevent companies from doing this is to remove all of said companies products from the approved list for 5 years. Doing this will prevent them from pushing legal limits.
Regarding testing …. I think companies should submit cash which roar uses to buy the motor from a random shop.

Maybe it was a manufacturing defect or something, but Reedy will need to tighten up quality control for sure after that....
#4
Wow, ROAR's really cracking down on spec motors. They mean business.
#5
Good that they are cracking down on it, bad because the 25.5 motors in general are unobtainium these days to acquire new with the slot machine motors being banned as well.
#6
Could always just manufacturer them in the US. Less quality drift then.
Does a shorter stack even make the motor faster?

RC racing... being as important and relevant as it is to the rest of the world...im sure QA was done in a temp controlled environment with calibrated proper tooling. lol.
