If my IRs are high ...I would cycle to lower it before Q1...then just charge during the race.

What is considered too high of an IR? And what does cycling your batteries accomplish? Also another question there is a little colored bar graph next to cells mAh(sp.?) When charging what does that signify?

If you use 2 of these big .5 ohm 200W resistors you can get down to .25 ohms which is good for 30 amps without the need for fans. I found the resistors for about $15 each.

I think a good IR is from 2-4 and when you see a pack getting old or having a bad cell you will see 7-14 I have some old packs that are still good in the 5-6 range. Cycling the battery will lower the resistance. Like when you first hook up a battery at storage voltage the IR will be like 6 and after its charged it will drop to 3. And the colored bar is showing you which cells are higher than the others and that is the balance circuit draining off excess voltage to bring the pack into balance.

Its huge but awesome. I'm going to add a few 4mm jumper connections so I can disconnect one resistor and discharge at 10-14, then add a jumper to short it out so I can charge with it in place. In theory. If it looks like a spaghetti monster I'll probably scrap that idea.

Can I do a sugestion?
If you look arround you can fins an automotive switch capable of switching 20 to 25A (maybe even 30) but most of the time in switched position it can handle more current (so switch over with no current flow). You need a 2 position switch with a middle no connection position.

This seemed to work out alright. I can charge with it in place. Then discharge at 30 or 10-14 depending on how many resistors I hook up.

So ur plugging ur jumper to charge and unplugging to discharge .... no different then plugging in ur resistor to discharge and unplugging it to charge lol

To add a discharge resistor you have to split the positive line and plug in the resistor which takes 3 steps. 6 steps to swap between charge and discharge. This is plugged in to charge and unplugged to discharge plus you can do it on the fly and not break your connection. So if you are sitting at the bench you can cycle with the jumper when the battery is in its 3 minute rest phase without disturbing the cycle program.

OK, picking up an X6 today. All I want to be able to do is get charged packs down to Storage. I dont cycle or run them right down. I just want to quickly (basically) get them to storage level.

SO I have an OLD Trinity discharge tray lying around from the Nicad days.. It has 6 x .2ohm 10W resistors in it. I was thinking of connecting it in 3 banks of 2 8v x .4 = 3.2A - each bank correct? SO that would give me 9.6amp discharge??? Each bank is 20w.. and it produces 25.6w - SO if I have fan on it.. cooling.. should I be ok?

I could go 2 banks of 3 giving me 13.3 amp discharge but then I am at 8 x 13.3 = 106w and only 30w cap.. so that would blow the resistors.

Does this sound right? 3 parellel banks of .4ohm 20w.. will give me 9.6amp discharge at 25.6w per bank.

I can only get a 30amp discharge rate on my x6 for a few seconds. Then it goes down to 4.3amps.

Im using the RCS discharger and everything is plugged in as it should be (at least I believe it is). The I set the charger up to the best of my knowledge, but could someone please walk me through the set up menu. I couldn’t find anything in the manual that stated proper set up.

edit: I’m on 2.0.3. Do I need to be on 2.0.4?

edit the edit. Updated charger to 2.0.5 and works like a charm.

edit edit edit...

back to rhe same issue. Only worked once 🤬
