Advance timing
I wanted to know on brushless motor and esc, if you can adjust the timing on motor and adjust the timing/boost on esc at the same time? |
You can but typically, if running a class allowing boost, you will run lower can timing and do more tuning via the ESC's boost/turbo options than on the motor itself.

More timing is top end, less timing is torque, you need to find the sweet spot. max timing can be 60 degrees max , that is based on can timing + boost + turbo. If you are allowed boost/timing. the optimal scenerio is almost no timing at low rpm for max torque and max timing at high rpm for even more rpm. Boost controls the timing from low to top and how much timing is applied. Turbo kicks in at full throttle to give you even more speed. Thus you want to run about 5-15 boost, and adjust turbo based upon the length of your straight, between 5-15. If you want to soften the 0-low power you can add a bit of can timing. This is generally 0 - 5ft from stand still. Generally start with 0 to 15 timing on can. You can also control the bottom end with ESC punch settings. Boost mainly controls low to mid top. Most esc you can program the rpm range in which boost kicks in. And turbo adjusts top end. |

Look me up on FB. I'll explain everything. Its all I do is tune motors!

Blewis, I've seen that before. I wanted Huff to explain it rather than provide me a link.
