Choosing the right ESC
Hello, I'm looking to by an ESC for my Traxxas bandit that I'm converting to a rustler, I'm going to tun 2-3s most of the time. I have narrowed it down to the XERUN XR10, EXRun MAX10, and the EZRun MAX10 SCT. I like the XERUN XR10 and EZRun MAX10 because of the price, but I have heard the SCT it better, but the price is a lot more and I probably won't ever be running 4s. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hobbywing justock for sure

Depends on the motor you want to run. I would go with a 80a or 120a esc. Having a little more esc than needed is not a bad thing especially if running 3s. Look at the current (amp) draw of the motor you want to run and any other motor you might think about upgrading to later.

I am running a venom sensorless 3300kv motor, don't know the current draw, just picked it up with the rustler with a broken Venom ESC, the ESC was 80A though.

Does it have to be waterproof? Be able to run sensored motors? The Ezun Max10 60a should work fine with your 3300kv motor on 3s and its waterproof. If your thinking that the 3300kv may not be fast enough go with a stronger than a 60a esc.

Yes the a rating is the continuous amp rating the esc can provide the second amp rating is what the esc can provide for a few seconds (burst). Without putting a meter on it hard to say how much amps the motor is pulling while in use so just go by rated specs. I would call a lot of escs water resistant not fully submersible waterproof but thats what they call them waterproof not splashproof.

Are you deadset on hobbywing? No, that's just the brand I saw a lot of people using, and I have read they are a good company. |
