Tekin life expectancy
I’m just curious now and like to see if I should upgrade or keep on rolling.
I bought this rs pro a looong time ago maybe as soon as Tekin released them It has survived 6 motors and 3trucks and now is home to a sprint 2 for the past 4yrs it does have an external bec and fan on it since body gets no air but the most leds ever came up without fan was 5. The only drawback is the rs pro age vs the Hotwire. It erases everything every time I log it back on.. but since I keep it simple that hasn’t been too much of an issue. I hate to “trade up” since this thing isn’t broken or is failing in any way but it has crossed my mind. Thanks art |
I have the tekin RS.. gen 1.. and the 17.5 redline motor.. gen 1...
like 10 plus years... I just got a hotwire2 ( 2 weeks ago).. so upgraded from 182 to 223 in one shot... I do not have the erase issue... I am new to dirt... and jumps.. 5 wins and 2 seconds in 7 races... in the intermediate class..... running a New Associated SC5M truck, new battery.. I am also running a Futuba 3 pk radio... I know OLD.. works well Run it... |
Lol right on!
Yeah I have tried everything on updates and such but the pro just doesn’t remember every time I re upload. Kinda like the owner I guess lol! |
.
as long as you have a work around... run that puppy... . |
Lol yeah it’s called point click and don’t log back in! Lol
I guess electronics and age don’t go hand over hand with Tekin cause I still have original power switch and I even took it apart and it was clean. |

Thanks art FYI your RS pro should not be erasing anything UNLESS you're hitting the "update ESC" button instead of "apply settings" which did/does create some confusion for first time users. "Update ESC" is for software updates; if you hit this the Hotwire will flash the ESC with the software chosen, and re-install all defaults. So if this is what you're doing, I'd ask you to plug into the ESC, change something big such as Drag Brake from whatever it is now to say, 95; hit apply settings; then once the window states the setting is saved, unplug the ESC from the Hotwire, plug back into it and it should refresh. If it doesn't or if you're unsure; you can hit "Current Settings" where it will "ping" the ESC for the current settings and display them. |
No it’s apply button randy
My rsx gen2 and gen3 rx8’s don’t do this. If I check esc by scrolling through buttons every change that I can see is there but if I plug It back in to the Hotwire it’s all back to default mode |

If I check esc by scrolling through buttons every change that I can see is there but if I plug It back in to the Hotwire it’s all back to default mode Power up the ESC; hold BOTH buttons down for 4-5 seconds at the same time. This is a "Factory Reset" and is a good idea the ESC is doing ANYTHING out of the ordinary or norm. Once done try a few settings taking note of their setting value, then hit "apply." Then unplug the ESC from the HW and plug it back in; hit "current settings" to assure they're the values you put in. LMK |
Ok sounds good
