Problem Futaba 4PLS

When driving the car at the track, throttle will go dead at about the same time/point during a lap. Throttle stops responding for a second, then comes back. New lap, rinse and repeat.

Issue has happened with 2 different receivers and 3 different ESC's. The only common denominator is the transmitter itself.

Is the radio shot? What are some troubleshooting steps I can take? Can the unit be reset?

Note: electric car.

1. Make sure battery levels are up to par.
2. Try standing at different locations around the track.
3. Check the antenna on the tx.
4. borrow a different TX for a bit, just to make sure it is your TX problem.
5. ??

Depending on the track size and what receiver you're running (antenna-less) it could be a range issue.

Thanks for the responses.

Friend has the same tx, gonna try his today and will report back. I race on a small indoor track and range had never been an issue before. If the problem is present in a different tx, I'll install a longer antenna straw.

Would clearing out the model info help, or does that even matter?

is there a ir alarm system or motion detector module in the area if so get a chip bag or aluminum foil cover it.. that happened a lot at my home track with all Futaba radios.

Different tx, same issue. Swapped steering serve, same issue... Swapped battery and it still had the same issue. The problem was my motor.

I'm now running a full Hobbywing setup consisting of a XR10 Pro 80a ESC and V10 g2 17.5t motor. This setup will not get effed with in any way whatsoever. It's soldered up and that's how it will stay.

It might make it into another car at some point, but that will be as an entire unit.

Thanks for the help.

Are you using a transponder placed close to the receiver? If so, try to place it a bit further from the receiver.

Transponder issue was messing with the guy I pit next to, hasn't been a problem in my car. Both my servo and ESC are tiny, so lots of room in the car.

In retrospect I should have known the motor (Novak Vucan 17.5t) was the issue. Towards the end, it had developed an audible tone during inmtial take-off. It was just intermittently dying and or killing the entire rig.
