Smoking negative wire on ESC

I have a D413 buggy I bought used and got a Hobbywing V2 Blue ESC and a 6.5 Hobbywing V10 motor Futaba PX4 with a R304SB reviecer along with a digital Savox servo, about 1 minute in the negative wire (the neg on the 3 wire plug that runs to the receiver) on the ESC melted, borrowed a Tekin RSX and no issues the rest of the day. Replace the ESC With a Reedy 1000Z same issue same result with the RSX, put a Reedy 510R in same issue any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It could be an internal short on the battery which would suck because it's not something easy to fix. If you haven't tried It with a different battery yet.

It could also just be really a poor solder joint and not saying anything against your ability just stating it as a possibility. If it's a cold joint it could heat up quick.

a guy up at the track had that happen the other day. after about 3 times of soldering the wire back on he realized that the center shaft bearing were seizing up and creating a huge load on system. Another thing to check, binding in the drive system.

I think I need to be clearer it’s the negive wire on the 3 wire plug that runs to the receiver

You should check the current load of the servo, while the servo is in operation, also do you have any fans connected to the receiver

I've had a receiver that took out 2 Speed Passion esc's, a Tekin esc, and a good motor when the Tekin esc went. Funny thing was, the receiver still worked fine if it was powered by a rx pack. Still makes me mad to this day that damn Spektrum receiver burned up so much stuff I would probably still have.

I was suspecting the receiver I just have to wait till I can get everthing replaced and try again
