I have a Taranis QX7 for my helicopters. I will be honest, it was a pain to setup, but I also bought the irangex module so I can connect to spectrum and futaba rx, along with any of the rtf drones out there. If you you want something easy, just go with a normal radio, but if you like tinkering get the Taranis.

If youre building quads, get the Taranis, for anything else go Spektrum.

Depends on how you feel about programming. Spektrum menus are pretty easy to use and learn, much like your JR and Futaba was. Taranis is totally different - very free form and few preset menus - I've watched people spend 10 - 15 minutes trying to do a simple mix.

That said, Taranis is a very capable radio - but if you are old like me it may be difficult to adjust to.
