ESC and Caps
 

I've heard conflicting stories regarding capacitors and the ESC. My Hobbywing ESC came with just one cap. Would it be beneficial to swap it out for a series of caps? Like I said, ive heard different things.

a cap on a esc is a voltage sag helper.. depending on your driving style and battery true C rates . a bank of caps on the esc will help in starts and chicane..as in fast slow fast slow trigger pulling..

But OK, sorry for standing on your toes but also from me one tip: You will be amazed what answers you can find by just using the search. It is also much better learning if you do some own research.

but really no need to go silly and get large caps, the one included by the factory is perfectly suited. The engineers included it because they felt it was the best for the job.

That is one small annoyance about this forum, people dont use the search feature before posting. With that said, I do love RC stuff and deal with it.

The best thing is that OP asked a question about capacitors back in 2016, and Roelof answered his question back then.

OP has started many threads that get closed because he can't seem to understand that he is supposed to ask his question in the thread for that vehicle, instead of starting a thread just for his question.

Also, it seems he worries about a lot of things that might maybe make a tiny difference in on track performance. Stuff that you need to be a REALLY good driver to make your lap times faster. Stuff that is not going to make any difference for him.

Now, esc caps

Even the best ESC cap will only give what the battery will provide. IMO it's more important to have a cap with a low ESR rating (resistance) than one that has a higher uf (capacitance). The Hobbywing single caps are usually pretty low resistance, very similar to the Tekin single caps (may be the same unit?) On my Hobbywing I use the G force hyperbooster as I needed weight that side of the car so figure it may as well be doing something, and the esr on it was the same as the stock cap. On my Team Powers esc (which is heavier) the stock cap is fine.
