Help! Separated battery just for servo
Hey guys,
currently i am making custom 1/5 rc truck (still in drawings) but i need advice for the electronics. The things are: 1. i will use 2 brushless motors with 2 ESC`s. I want to use a single lipo pack (shorty) just for the servo. The servo is HITEC D-980TW 32-Bit, Monster Torque and i will use it at 7.4 v. Now the problem ... i wanted to use it with the new traxxas receiver but i think it`s impposible becouse i will put a BEC but the receiver can`t handle more than 6v. What are my options? Maybe i need some HV receivers like Futabas? |
wire up the BEC to the servo only. red and black of the bec to red and black of the servo.
white nad black of the servo to your receiver. Power the reciever with something lower power. |
hm....didn`t get it...
so shall i power the RX through the esc? |
You can

here's the wiring sequence to directly wire to a servo, I've been selling these HV harnesses ( $8 shipped) which hook up to the balance port of a 2S LiPo pack to get HV to the servo:

Hello!
I have a question regarding electric current between components ESC, receiver and servo motor. For example: I have on my ESC BEC output: 6V/2A (switch mode built-in), my receiver operating voltage is 4.8 - 7.4V and servo motor Stall current (at locked) is 5000 mA @ 6.0V, so I am interesting how effect on servo motor at locked condition the loss of current because from technical specification is clear that I can deliver through my ESC only 2A and not 5A like is written in technical specification current consumption of servo motor. Do I need some extra external bec on my receiver? Thank you. |
If your going to be using amp hungry servo, use a stand alone BEC.
When I raced short course, I always used a castle BEC because it eliminated any worry of brown outs, or glitches. Its cheap insurance for how low the cost is. |
