Fixing ESC or Repairing

Can someone give me a contact for another fellow RC guy capable of fixing ESC that have failed and out of warranty?

Specifically
Orion R8.1 pro

Man, I think ESC repair services have dwindled. There are a few repairing their own, given that they had the resources. But you will find most of the time, even the manufacturer may ask you to buy a new product instead. One thing I give Novak, they had the refurbished items tab. meaning you could get a refurbished ESC, Motor or combo at a fraction of the cost, with a warranty. I destroyed a Sensor Board on an 2000KV Orion before, and had the worst luck with Horizons support - now I run a different brand.

Not to stir you in the wrong direction, but perhaps a used XR8 would be your safest bet, given how great they are, and many readily available in the BST.

Surely someone out there can fix it

I have 2 of them
Both have different issues.

Hopefully someone could make 1 good one.

Hobbywing direct offers factory repaired products at a discount as well. Otherwise known as refurbished products. Just a thought

Was wondering, were these powering the Speedpassion 1800KV motors you have for sale?

Nope powering Orion 2100

Neither esc made it off my workbench. They both went south almost immediately. Crazy

Each time put my LRP iX8 back in and all good.

Do they repair Orion?

No he is stating that HW sells refurbished products, they do not repair Orion, although if not mistaken, the Orion is a rebadged HW!

Either way hopefully someone can give me a contact to get them fixed besides horizon.

They will not help on these 2 ESCs.

That’s the only option you have that I know of. Many of us stopped running Orion because of the extremely small factory support. Also we (the consumers) switched brands to have factory support. I highly recommend Hobbywing as they will fix almost any issue you may have with their products.

It is unfortunate that you have that much money invested in Orion electronics to not have any support. Many, many users have recently realized the non support through horizon. This isn’t to slander or down any company it’s just stating the facts. It’s why I recommend another manufacturer as they have support. If you don’t care for HW, tekin offers support as well. Even with really old products through tekin they have a trade in program. I hope this helps and you can help support a company that will in return help support you.

This is not a problem with Horizon

Orion has taken care of the issue as we have agreed.

They sent me a replacement and that didn't work.

So they sent me a R8.1 and it works just fine.

I still have the 2 bad R8.1 Pros and hoping someone can fix them or at least one of them. I really want to run the 8.1 pro.

If this is true, then I would contact HW and ask them if they will do a upgrade for a new replacement at a deep discount? I recently traded in some old damaged ESC's (HW branded) and they gave me an insane discount... I'm probably going to be a HW customer for life now :)

That is cool of them.

Thanks for the notes.

I'm still hoping someone can fix them.

I also have an ESC I wish I could repair. At least a cracked MOSFET on it, on visual inspection. It's a Novak though, and with Novak having gone under... well, not that it'd necessarily be simple even if they hadn't, since I'm in Europe. Doesn't seem fixing is a very common thing even by third parties, these days.

Damn, got three I wish I knew a third party to send to for repairs. Baffled why someone who is familiar with repairing ESC doesn't start a thread on here ,he would make a ton of money
