That is really going to depend more on the BEC within the speed control than the DX5C. I have used it with 1/10 and 1/8 cars. Might even use with a 1/5 this weekend... haven't decided what TX to use yet.

Nikos2002...

Have a slight issue with my DX5c binding. I have had the radio for a while now but barely use it. I just this weekend picked up another SR415 to bind in one of my new trucks. I have tried it multiple times and it wont bind to the receiver at all. I was able to bind to one of my other 2 channel receivers just fine. But it wont bind to the SR415 at all. I was however able to bind the sr415 to my old DX3S just fine. Any suggestions?

My setup is:
Hobbywing WP1080
Axial 35t motor
Savox SW-1210SG

I think it's a great radio especially for the price. If you're not some top level racer that needs the best of the best, it's more than enough radio for your needs. However, I too had some issues with the binding at first...but it was more of a timing thing, literally had to put in the mind plug, turn on car and hit bind in perfect order. I have 4 receivers for it now and all work great.

I appreciate your work as well RazorRc keep it up.

Are you binding at 11ms frame rate? You need to.

Another thing to remember with binding. You can't have the radio right next to our car when you do it. They need to have a separation - maybe an arms length to do it.

I am sure I know the answer to this question, but is there anyway to bind the DX5C to my SR201 rx that came with my DX2E?

Hey slick (always wanted to say that)… with the DX5C you need a DSM2/DSMR receiver.

Default Love it but....

I just got mine a few weeks ago. I really like it except for one thing, the trigger isn't open enough for my fat finger. Is there an optional trigger with a more open spread for those of us who like a little play? Other than that one little detail i like this one better than any other I've owned so far.

No, there is not a different trigger for this guy. We try to find that happy medium. Check you PM, I sent you some ideas to try.

Default Have Spektrum dx5c, looking for faster response

Hi-
I bought a dx5c after owning flysky junk for years. I am a year into carpet racing. The fast guys have and recommend futaba/sanwa so I'm upgrading but have several spektrum receivers
I'm not a pro or fanatic so cost is a concern.

Questions:
Is there a higher end spektrum that is on par with the 4psl?
Would moving to a 4pls be a good investment?
Is there a Sanwa that is a good step up?

Thanks!

Even if you went with a faster Specktrum transmitter, you'd likely have to change your receivers to be able to bind at the faster rate (unless you already have receives that can bind in the 5.5ms mode).

I dont think the DX5C will support 5.5ms frame rates. I think the current Spektrums that will are the DX5, X5Pro and the 6R? I just recently got the MTS and couldn't be happier, but receiver cost a little higher than Futaba and Spektrum, with the FH3 receivers costing about $60 and the FH4T antenna-less versions about $100. The Sanwa would be the fastest frame rate that I'm aware of, with SHR mode clocked in at around 2.6ms. Same latency as the MT-44. I think the Futaba 4PLS can use high speed FHSS or TFHSS which is near the 5ms range.

So would there be a noticeable difference in car reaction if I went with a 4pls?
Would I have to get special high speed receivers?

With the current crop of transmitters out there, it is more important to focus on the comfort of the remote moreso than the speed. Most of the current transmitters are below 10-15ms latency and at that point it doesn't make as big of a difference as having a comfortable remote. However, being a Spektrum, just about anything from Futaba or Sanwa will probably be somewhat noticeable improvement in feeling "connected" to your car.

Here is my experience with The Futaba 4PL, 4 PV, and the Spektrum DX5R. With the 4pl it does have a high speed mode, but it was only around 8ms from what i read in the manual. When i switched to the 4pv i didn't notice a difference. Then I got a DX5R and tried it at 11ms and i couldn't tell a difference with the latency vs the 4PL/PV. But once i switched to the 5.5ms I noticed a huge difference in response. One thing to consider if you get a DX5R you can still use the same receivers you are using right now.
