Starting parking lot on road race track ?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this , but I'm trying to start rc track in my local community and I have no clue how to start up something like this. I'm not sure how to find out even if there would be any one interest. I do have 2 dirt tracks near me but they are 45 minutes away from my town which i race 1/8 scale e buggy so i do attanend those tracks but really have talked to anyone at those tracks to se if the would be interested in doing on road .any ideas how to get started.

do you have permission from the parking lot owners that You are allowed to use there lot.
the tracks you do visit... ASK.. and ASK again.
place an add in the local paper,, asking all for input.
place add on wall of local hobby shop or shops.
what about local cable channel.. ask them for info on a short clip to Air...
.

check with local law enforcement?..
get permission from lot owner in writing
get some kinda liability insurance(getiing sued stinks when you started a thing to have fun..)
write of a flyer hit all local hobby shops . and any public events near you
clean off lot with leaf blower electric is best then no oil gets on track..
get cones tracks dots or what ever your going to use to mark tracks layout

Here’s our parking lot track. Vinyl gutters from Menards as lane barriers. Work good, not solid so usually don’t damage cars on impacts. We do use 2x4 wood pieces in places to hold it down.
The hobby store only involvement is giving us a place to run, and storing the barriers. The do try to advertise but that’s the hard part. Attracting people

I would start with checking with the guys where you already race at. Any chance one of the tracks has a open parking lot nearby.
Do you have a timing system? We also run a 1/18 for fun racing. Here nobody minds just counting laps, usually they run 5 lap sprints. But if trying to start a touring car group, they gonna want lap times.

The parking lot was seal coated before this summer. Really smoothed our a few spots. They spray soda down to give traction. We run F1,USGT and started 17.5 TC last summer. All work fine. I’m not sure about anything faster. Think it’s too small. I’ve tried running 1/12 and a Mod TC. But I’m still learning with those.

little rocks are bad.. so sweeping is needed
Wind.... GTP type bodies love to blow-over.. and I am talking 10mph wind.
soda pop... but full sun is helpful to set it.
silicone sealant on foam tires... work OK.. outdoors.

We learned just how much the sun is needed last summer. Previous years they would spray the surface and it would be absorbed. Now seal coated, it needs the sun. Otherwise it just gums up the tires.
