I'll blow my Qualls and try to play the bump game, the closest trophy race to me is 400km away I'm not taking a week off work and driving all that way to run 3 five minute Qualls and a twenty minute b main (I'm not a main calibre). If I can bump through the d and c mains I double my track time. If it's costing me 2k to show up at a race I'd be pretty stupid to be satisfied with a total of 45 minutes track time.
I'm not talking about running sportsman when I should be running pro as I would rather be last in pro than win sportsman.

Stock nationals at OCRC are coming up. Every year someone either front pack sportsman or mid pack expert will drop down and dominate Novice class. Heck, there's chassis sponsored racers in Novice.

Breakout time can also be collected in practice and the heats could be organized off of those times for the first round.
I race in the sportsman class if it is offered. Because that is my level of skill. Not to get a trophy, but for good competition. If there is only pro class, I run with everyone, no big deal. The day will sort itself out and at the end of the day, I'll be in the main that I belong in that day.
