Default newbie ???

hello all,
Ive been practicing with my kinda speedrun car,my best run was 74mph. this is with a 1/10th scale traxxas 2wd slash ,which now only has the stock steering .im using a an INTEGY metal chassis with grp rims and tyres.the esc is a MM2 castle with 1515y 22ookv motor .castle 30 tooth pinion and castle 29 tooth spur, killmode 3bank cap pack reaction 5000mah 50c batteries on 6s . proline big bore shocks tethered down in full droop.hot racing trans with mip cv shafts.strc front shock tower. oh and the steering servo is stock traxxas.im using a deltaplastics toyota gt1 body which i havent cut on yet. sorry if im posting this wrong ,im new to this and trying .so far ive built this car by reading every post i can find nights after work ,im sure there are things i havent built the correct way ,lol. for now i will keep reading everything i can and go up in speed slowly .i think this car will go faster but i am going to make pass after pass after pass to get better at driving the car. i am using the traxxas telemtry but find its better to adjust almost all of the steering out on the radio . steering end points i think i hear people say. my test road is pavement put down in october of this year, very smooth and 1 mile long with only a little traffic . i use my wife and son as spotters for safety and stand in the back of my side by side . if its cool with the people on here i would like to post my new car im building to make any neccesary adjustments before hand. new car is hoboa hyper gtle castle xlx tppower 4070cm with 8mm shaft , 2200kv , . which body would work with this platform ,360mm wheelbase. thank you in advance. i hope this posts up on here in the correct thread. lol i type with 2 fingers , will take another half hour to do it again .to all you extremely fast guys a big thumbs up for putting your hard fought knowledge on here for a new guy like me ,and to everyone else like me trying to go fast ,i wish you the best of luck . cmon 80 mph car i will learn to drive to get you there . and ouch this speed thing gets expensive when i am continuing to drive it into the ditch.

can someone jump in and help me with this , questions like will the body you use PHILDOGG fit this chassis?, should i use better batteries ? etc or for some crazy reason will oddball combo actually go fast ? LOL HAHA after lots of ditch banging .

Thick! Maybe try 500k initially and go from there.

How do I fit bigger pinion in my associated 1/8 b3 buggy. The stock spur gear is a 46tooth and I cannot final any smaller spur gears. Do they make smaller spur gears? With the stock spur gear the biggest pinion that fits is a 20tooth.

I am not very familiar with T/A models, but after a quick google search and eBay it appears that you may be correct about not finding a smaller spur. In that case, you may need to modify the motor mount or utilize a different mount. You would want to push the motor further away to accommodate a larger pinion. Good luck!

My first speed run project. Still waiting on parts and fabricating others. More to come!

Default xlx or xl2

Will replace my max5 to either xlx or xl2, have read that xlx had amp issues and felt half as powerfull as xl2. 2-3 years have passed and I was unable to find newer posts so... has castle improved it to be better at speed runs (inferno gt2 tpp4070cm 2200kv 6s) or should I get an used xl2 instead? Motor pulls close to 300A, is the newer xlx firmware updates made it better so it is worth upgrading to from xl2v

The XLX issues were addressed years ago. It runs just as good as the XL2 as long as your firmware is current.

What’s the best speed run tires and wheels for a 1/10 scale touring car? Must be 12mm hex. At the 70-90mph I keep blowing out my normal sorex 36r tires. I even tried some off brand eBay foam tires and that are blowing up too.
Please help.

I've heard that BSR foams (lots of guys use double pink) or Gone Bananas Racing foams work well for speed. I haven't personally tried them, though; so far I'm only a GRP guy. But both companies have selections for 1/10 scale wheels!

I have had BSR foams. They work well if you get the correct compound.
