I have many motors I run in my Mugen. Here are a few:
-Poseidon 1700kv-145 mph
-Poseidon 1500kv-138 mph
-Castle 2200kv-150 mph
-Poseidon 2200kv-150 mph
-TP Power motor-157 mph
-Cordova Research-164 mph
Different gearing on each setup pretty much. You will just have to put in your own work and see what works best for you. Different factors like tires, length of road, etc... must also be considered. Go out there and test it.....
And yes, the XLX is the best esc for speed, power, tunability, data logging, and drivability. Just make sure you update the firmware to the latest version or you will be scratching your head wondering why 8s feels like 3s lol.

Are there any good write ups for dual ESC and motor setups from a wiring perspective? I saw a guy had an XO-1 with that kind of setup, but I cannot find how to connect the ESCs together so they operate in parallel.

I guess I typed that wrong, but it would really be cool if I could wire two ESCs together to work in parallel. That would make what I want to do even easier - I think. The goal would be to avoid having to go the MGM route for my next ESC and be able to use two Castle ESCs at 250A a piece to run a massive single motor. That's what I was thinking in my head, but it looks like crayneogeo says that is not possible.
On the subject of two ESCs and two motors, is there a specific way two ESCs with two motors have to be wired so they can turn one gear at the same rate other than reversing the direction of one of the motors? My assumption is a dual ESC and motor setup reduces the load each of the motors and ESCs have on them by 1/2.

What would be good motor to start with for speed runs and a TC4? I have a spare hobby wing XR10 to use with this. I was thinking about a low turn used motor from Rotor Ron?
