From the Horses Mouth: Slicks are permitted in all classes at the Roar Race on March 7th!

Proline Primes M4, Sweep slicks in silver seem to be the ticket for anyone wondering.

Yes. For this race they will be allowed. They are readily available at the track.

What I need to know is are racers going to be able to use their Hobbywing 3656 4000kv and 4700kv motors that are not on the ROAR approved list? From what I have been told is Hobbywing submitted the motors and never got responses on them, if I cant run it I wont be racing ROAR events. There are lots of these motors out there and the SC 4WD class may be very small because of it.
I have writen ROAR several times but have received no answers.

Those motors are 550 sized 4 poles which are not allowed normally. Same reason the tekin hd one is not on the list. The 540 maximum can size is 53mm. The motors you mentioned show they are 56mm which would make them 550's.

So Jason. That would make the SP SCT motors illegal also. Right?

By not being the regional director, I can say with no authority that by the rulebook yes if it is a 550 can 4-pole. I think from what I can see the blaze motors are 2 pole which means it would have to be on this list http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/...lessmotors.php. For the event that is the regional representatives decision(Brian Miz) as was shown above with tires, rims, etc. Anyone running E-Nats this summer at LCRC, unless they change the rulebook, it will be a problem there also. Local events allow for lenience, national events do not.

I would suggest that ROAR loosen their grip on the use of 550 cans with 2s. We are putting quite a strain on the equipment now and the 540 motors are not going to handle the heavier trucks. Not many co. make those motors in 540.

I wont be at this race but i agree with you on they should loosen the grip on the 540 only motor can rule not to mention it cost people more money to just use a 540 motor for one race event really.

But yea the Tekno 4wd SC with a 540 motor if its stock will be more strain on the electronics don't think it would be enough torque for them ethier.

I have Hobbywing sending me a 550 2 pole motor to try out, I know that should pass ROAR submission when they get around to sending it in.

The tekin 4600, 4000 and castle 3800's have been in use for 2-3 years in those vehicles in 540 cans and not having issues.

We will allow the 550 motors for the race on March 7th. Please note that if you attend the Electric Nationals at LCRC, like stated above you will be required to run what is on the Roar motor approval list. If anyone has any other questions please contact me or post on here. Thanks.
