Northern California Pan Car Revival
NCPCR is Northern California Pan Car Revival. 1/12, GT12, GT10, Pro 10, WGT, F1. At this time we have a handful tracks that could have a class if enough drivers bring out their cars. Speedworld Raceway in Roseville, NorCal Hobbies in San Jose, Ripon Speedway in Ripon, Hobbytown in Fresno, Ground Pounders in Windsor or Rohnert Park, P1 Hobbies in Ukiah and Delta R/C Hobbies in Antioch. F1 is the biggest pan car class at this time, very fun to drive. 1/12 is slowly gaining ground, we had a 4 car 17.5 class in May at Ripon. Almost every car manufacture has a pan car kit. Be it a 1/10 WGT, 235mm, F1 or 1/12, GT12 the list is growing, Kawada even has the m500gt2r pan car running on TC rubber tires (this would be a SWEET class). I am a huge pan car fan and have been driving my 1/12 as much as possible. I am posting this as to encourage everyone to dust off their old pan cars or if they have been thinking about getting a new one to do so and get them on the track. It’s lonely being the only 1/12 here at Speedworld. I am also building a Pro10 – 235mm pan car (rc10L and a Twister Cyclone [FLASH BACK 80’s]). My proposed classes are as follows (just throwing them out there, specs can change at any giving moment):
1/12 – open, 1s
1/12 - 10.5, 1s
1/10 – wgt or 235mm, open, 1s - 2s ?
1/10 – wgt or 235mm, 10.5, 1s - 2s ?
The pan car is coming back! Prepare yourself…
Your input is greatly appreciated

I've wanting to get into pan cars or F1s for a long time but no one has had a class. I'm super interested in this. Norcal hobbies is closest to me, but last I checked they didn't have any onroad track/classes going on since they moved.
What car kit should I be looking at to get in on this?

NorCal on rcracing they have a pretty good F1 class, not many 1/12 or pro10. Believe a few WGT but not sure. Delta Hobbies in Antioch will be racing indoor onroad july 26th, the final for the RCFIA f1 series.
car kit - any 1/10 pan car would be fun but for pro10 235mm SpeedMerchant is coming out with a new one soon, CRC makes a 235mm kit for their wgt, xray i think also.
for 1/12 - any, all are good.
F1 - F104v2 pro, speedpassion SP-1, vbc, xray - so many to choose from
wgt - crc, xray new x10 '15 will be out soon and hope to see a 235mm kit for it, then i will buy one.

Would this be something easy for a beginner to run? I'm not new to RC but I've never raced before

definitely, I would start with F1 since the track close to you has a class (support your local hobby store) and f1 is only getting bigger. F1 is my main class due to always being able to race no matter where I go, the 1/12 and pro10 are for fun until more people bring them out. Hope to see ya at Delta

My fleet s almost complete. Still wanting to pick up a supastox. For 1/12 I have 12r5.2, 1/10 is a crc x10 with 235mm kit. Can run WGT or pro10 within minutes. F104v2 pro is set up like all others, 21.5 2s. Too many cars to race on a single day but I will bring them all.
