I hope Paul Lemieux makes a good showing for Losi/Trinity after his ROAR win.

TPhalen: For what other reasons are they not going?
I am surprised that they just wouldn't push the Worlds back a few months, or something...

I understand the wish to let different countries host the worlds, but IFMAR should take into account the cost involved in getting everyone to certain location. Its always going to cost someone more than someone else to get to the worlds, but hell, it would have costed everyone a lot to get to this race.
Just look at the World's warm up. There were literally enough people there to count on your hands. With the few stars being Masami and Jukka Stenari. It was just way over the top in the cost category.
I hope IFMAR uses their heads to pick the next location.

IFMAR didn't really pick the venue. From what I understand, the So. Africa club was the only club that put in a bid for the worlds. IFMAR rotates regions of the world each year to allow everybody a chance to host a world championship and this was the only club from the region to even make an attempt.

Actually, the Worlds have been postponed until early 2002 as a result of the American teams pulling out. It appears that the American teams will make the trip then.

There still wont be much competition. There will be a sparse few team drivers there.
If this was the only place to put in a bid, then they should have tried another region.
So if the only place to put in a bid is a arctic research station, will IFMAR hold the worlds in the arctic. I think not!
Bad location, bad choice, and it might be a bad worlds race when ever they finally hold it. But then again, not having all the best drivers there might make it a better race.
