Cmotif,
We have an indoor off-road track(A-main Raceway) lacated in Vancovour Wa. this is 10min north of Portland. A-main also races sedans in there parking lot during the summer months. For indoor carpet sedan racing the closest track is in Salem OR. which is 45-60 min south of Portland. This track is RcPlus Hobbies, the web site is: http://www.rcplus.com/. You can race five days a week if you want to at well run tracks.

How about an off-road track on Glisan St, almost to Gresham? I think that I read something about that in the back on RC Car Action.

What kind of racing do you do?

Also a carpet track in Richland, West Coast RC. We held the regis last year. Up in rain city (seattle) there is another carpet track...I think there are a few ashfault tracks around too. Walla Walla has a great off-road track, right now we're having a big electric revival, as most of the track went gas...

I currently run a RC club in Merced, and I would like to see about starting one in Portland. It would be a touring car club. We have about 35 racers or so here.

well the touring thing kind of dies during the winter in portland vancouver area, but like chadd said they do race them down south in salem, most of the local boys go to drit and race up at A-MAIN, there also a big ralley class that runs up there, last season it was one of the biggest class we ran, that as close to sedan your going to get till spring roll it's sunny face in this parts. so if you wish to run sedan your going to have go down to ron's in salem to get your fix.

Default I'm already trying to work on my connections

to see if we can get some form of indoor touring car racing in Portland when it rains.

Yeah, I know how it is. I lived in Vancouver till I was ten, and then went back to Portland for College. I'll see what I can do.

What kind of car are you running? I just got a new Seven Even 6.0 Pro. I don't feel like trying to convert that to a rally car. Hopefully carpet, or maybe even in a gym.

I am putting together a couple of proposals as I try to get things sorted out to get a youth center in Portland. The first activity that it would provide would be RC touring car racing.

Cmotif- R/C plus in Salem runs an excellent carpet program with large turn-outs all winter long. Ussually a large stock sedan class and 4-8 mod sedans, 12th scale too. For offroad in the winter time a-main raceway in Vancouver is your best bet.

I would be.
We need:

1) More hobby shops w/ track facilities
2) Knowledgeable shop owners w/ good customer service

For a city as big as Portland, it is amazing to see only a handful of worthy shops, and even fewer racing facilities.

As far as location, a shop/track is BADLY needed in SE Portland, or even SW Portland. You either have to go way up Northeast to Aero Sports and Hobbies (great track, CRAPPY store), even farther North to the track mentioned above ... OR CLEAR DOWN TO SALEM. There is seemingly nothing in between. We are talking like a 1.5 hour drive between Aero and Salem.
Since I live in SE, that would be my preference

Hope this helps !

Default Field of Dreams

"If you build it . . . "

Started one in Merced, I think that it would be easier in Portland. Have a couple of ideas about where we might be able to get some corporate sponsorship for a RC Club track.

I will be up there in January, and will keep in contact with all of you. You'll be the first to know.

Great! That's all we need is another track in the northwest.
