Funny, I don't remember you stepping up to offer some help. Don started work on the track the saturday prior with the skidloader and a new local guy who's been in the hobby for about a month (Thanks for the help Shawn). Blue Diamond holds On Road races on Sunday so no work that day was done. Monday and Tuesday the track is closed. Wednesday, aside from Pete helping to water the track it was just Don and I with him running equipment and myself manning the shovel and rake. We worked our balls off to get that thing as far and ready as we could that day with no help from anyone... not even the local racers here. Thursday it rained all day and halted work so we got stuck rolling it the morning of practice as you obviously were there to see. The pipe got laid down by Don, Joe (a guy who volunteers his time here and without him On Road wouldn't run as smoothly as it does), Dustin (local racer who helps all the time), myself, and the only non local racer to help Gunnar (thanks for the help). As for all the people standing around waiting for the work to be done well... Practice started at 4:00 vs 1:00 three hours difference. If you didn't get enough practice with the four heats you ran on Sat then I don't know what to tell you but don't be so unappreciative.

I am sorry you don't have help or as you say"any locals" to help. But I don't care, don't hold big races if you can not adequately be prepared for. The pro series should command a little more effort than a club race. I spent a lot of money getting ready for the race. I gladly forked over my pumped entry fees as well as pumped my money into your local economy to sleep and eat for 3 days in your area. And thanks for clarifying the start of practice at 4pm.....track was promptly closed at 6.

And since maybe you don't travel or go to big races practice on friday is to get your car right so you can concentrate on qualifying sat rather than still making changes becuase fri practice nonexistent.

But like I said. Good luck with the remainder of your season and many more to come.

The problem is the so called pros dont want to get there hands dirty. Some people get up on a high horse and forget about the small things that need to be done besides racing. Im not directing this towards anyone, im just speaking in general. So many racers dont even help new racers when they see them struggle, let alone help out at the track. Great job Rich I like the effort you Don and Pete put forth. Hey cant please everyone.

I haven't said a word about the work put forth till my last post, It's not credit I'm looking for just trying to give a lil awareness but thank you. Practice was also scheduled till 7:00 but remained open till closer to 8:00 it was closed with just enough time to water it before it got dark. I don't own the place nor am I the spokesman. I just lend a hand and was was trying to shed some light on the subject. I don't wish to go back and forth. No harsh feelings and I wish you the best for the rest of the season.

Default re

point is the pro series is not a club race, the track was supposed to be oppen at 11a.m to 7 p.m.it wasnt ready til almost4 all of the pro series I have attended the track was made ready by the owners and locals not the travelers good eample is rome ny the calandras went out of their way to provide a great event the rain hindered it this year and for the most part all racers helped prepare the track after the rain stopped each time but to get the track ready the traveling racers should not be expected to prep the track when they arrive for practice as vince stated and the during the event the "fluff"around the outside should have been watered from time to time but when we tried we were told to stop but on the other hand the track held up well and the fellow racers for the most part weregood sports all in all but I would like to point out when you crash and the marshall puts you back on track it should not be your objective to take out passing trucks and buggies they did not crash you!!

Wow, I haven't been out racing at BD for the longest myself. During the pre-season I was out with a couple other Mod SC truck racers finding set ups and the right motor apps for the track. Too many dis-believers in the fact that MOD SC trucks (10.5 / 13.5 BL) worked just fine at BD, and "would" have been an excellent program to help in track survival. I'm always reading how well other big tracks are doing with their SC programs. MB averages 12 to 15 SC truck guys almost every saturday, but thats a brother's agreement that works out between Don and Tory. I hope things change for BDs offroad program. Don put a lot of work into that track.

yea i dont understand, about the lack of turnouts on saturdays my guess whould be its something to do with family hobbies running that day thats why i said they should try sundays . i mean hobby hut gets about 30 or more people each weekend.

yea i been to the, mushroom bowl a while ago when they ran 1/18 stock trucks and outdoor onroad also.

i do have a stock slash, with a lipo check out hobby hut they get about 8 of them that show up during the club races . they race on sundays

Cool, Yea, I do the bowl on Saturdays to help support the offroad SC program Tory has going on. It's fun racing with SCs running stock/mod 13.5s and 10.5s...Hey, Family is legendary, but I think with the distance between the two, (Family and BD) they really don't effect eachother's program. Family has more of a loyal following from the jersey area, and they always keep a good consistent program. Ron and Linda will see it no other way. MB runs on Saturdays as well, and does really good with its SC truck program, and has developed a loyal SC following. I haven't been to the hut yet, but I always hear great things about that track. Sundays will not conflict so I need to head up to the hut and try things out...At BD Sundays are good days, but BD's onroad program is currently dedicated to that day, and they have a good showing of loyal racers.

yea i have been to family, i just dont like the track and there isnt many adverge drivers there ethier the track is too smooth for me . espially drivers in 1/8 scale there.

yea the hut is running, this sunday im not sure if i will be there but go on youtube theres a hugh triple jump there for the 1/8 the sc you know will never be able to clear that lol.

the only thing i think, that can help the offroad program there is maybe more adverting in magazines or something.

Well a form of reinvention is in need. Trying some different racing classes, for the current classes has proven low/non attendance. The thing I dig about Don is be it Offroad, or onroad, he has always been open to what ever class racers want to race. People need to realize that about him. He's never turned away any form of RC class if it had the numbers to race...Hey, maybe trying a switch to Sundays Offroad, and Saturdays Onroad would be the key, but Don would have to really convince that to many of his consistent/loyal onroad racers which do their part in showing up each and every Sunday. That would be no easy task, but a task that may be worth the try. BDs onroad program remains strong. From an understood "business" point of view, there's very little an owner would want to do to disrupt that. I think BDs offroad racers have to remember, or note that Don built that offroad track for racer's interest more so than that of his own. Meaning he's looking out for his offroad RC enthusiasts just as much as he does his onroad RC enthusiasts. He didn't build it to make thousands of dollars in profit. He built it for offroad rc racers to have another great north east track to race on.

the thing i dont, get is that the onroad there is more popular than the offroad program, its usally the complete oposite everywhere else that has a onroad/offroad track.

Don is the man and i love the guy but dude c'mon are you serious. That layout was barely changed.

again it was the same layout as before...... soooo what was soo hard.

I pay 50 bucks to race at a proseries race the organization holding the event builds the track. Ain't no cupcake club race where everybody's drinking coke and eating pizza.

FYI pros and fast guys are trying to compete. Not tune you pre trashed and worn out engine or you clapped out car.

We all struggle some struggle more then others. It's not anybody's responsibility but your own to get your car prepared. Pro's give you advice but c'mon man.... you need your hand held during a proseries race ?

Your car is your own responsibility. Team drivers may help you but again mainly they are there to win the race.

Half the time people are having issues cause they didn't do something right the first time and then on raceday they need parts or help tuning and rebuilding stuff.... so are you there to help people who are awful at rc or are you there to compete and have a good time on your time and dollar.

Pro's be paying for stuff too. It's not free. Pro's also spent alot of money and time to become pro remember that.
