Well, just thought I'd put this up here for everyone to join in and voice their opinion...
I don't want to start things out by naming anyone or sighting an example of some sort... I just thought this could be an interesting place for people to talk about the

if you cant pass someone for position clean, then you cant pass em.

I agree more with Luke -
It's the responsibility of the one behind to do the clean pass, not of the person in front to move. (((caveat - this is in heads-up qualifiers. . .)))
If it's IFMAR, that's different, the person coming from behind is already ahead.
But if it's headsup quals, you're RACING for qual position and it's to your benefit to block. . .and blocking is a legitimate racing maneuver. Look at any RL racing circuit. You find blocking anywhere you look.

are not out of control. for example guy in back gets
a tighter line on a turn and the guy in the front
tries to close it again when it is too late or triing
to get back the position right away by throttling up

the car that just past you. another no no is

is braking. in short keep it clean and most of us
know what keeping it clean means. except for the

there are some instances when you can block the racing line with a slower car(similar to JWF's above statement about last minute 'line closing' and throttling).. And if i am trying to pass 'cleanly' my only option is to stay behind/trail the front car till it bobbles, or squeezing into a position that may cause both of us to spin, all while it is frantically trying to block to keep position..

I agree, OSherm - that's racing.
Pressure him until he bobbles. That's racing too.
But if you're behind me, we're heads up, and you don't have enough to go around me, I'm not going to move over and just LET you have the position. . .
Unless it's my strategy, which it was on Sunday at Rev, for the first 15 minutes of the 30 minute main. . .and I finished well.

When racing, we should emulate real race car rules. Then again, there are numerous car crashes there also.

The last few big races I entered (not club races) I saw NO racing ethics,it was punt or be punted.If thats the "new" way of racing at the bigger events I'll stick to club racing where the racing is alot cleaner.Yea I know your allways faster than the guy ahead of you but most of the time you are just as "slow" as he is,but when you dont let off in the turn and give them a little tap in the back, your by them no problem,sound familiar..just remember someday that guy you punted might be in the "A" main with you and return the favor with 2 laps to go and you were in the lead. Pay backs are a bitch!

like orlando said if the guy who is behind you is coming up really fast get the hell out of the way and if not i wll give 3 turns then i am sorry for your lucky . the guy who is count the race should stay on top of it to let the bottom feeders know whats and to move over it might sound mean and i not trying to sound like it but i am taking from experents were the guy hold you up for so long the second place guy is on your tale and then like every gets all to anits and poelpe crach thats how i fell about that

Second, the question here, really, is what if the "slower" person is actually AHEAD of you, positionally? I mean, you screwed up, tapped a dot, ended up on your lid and the "slower" person, who didn't screw up, is now in 2nd, you're in 3rd. . .you catch him but he won't let you by. . .
IMHO, he shouldn't let you by. That's racing.
