Racing Ethics

Racer "C"
Unfortunately for you, Racer "C" wants that 1st place finish just as bad as you do.
He ends up making a major mistake on the last lap, also taking out the top 3 positions with himself. 4th and 5th place end up winning the race.
Racer "C" is also the same Guy who blocks you, even when he's 2 laps down. And the Race director is watching that good looking girl walking in the other direction. Never fails.

I think driving ethics also has to do with who your racing with,as said before if your racing with someone that has a reputation for being a "hack" (i know this sounds harsh) it's best to just punt them and explain thats your first time using a one way and you dialed all your brakes out..oops

Guys,
Passing is an art form...It takes precision and timing. There is no need to hit or punt someone, if you are not faster or have a better line then you do not deserve to pass.In a main ,go ahead a try to stay ahead of the person behind you ( unless you are being lapped).
In qual....its never a heads up race. You are always racing against the clock. If you hold back racers in your heat in qual, you will both not be in the A main...Remember...you have more than one heat ( most of the time) and definately more than one round of qualifying

At the KO Grand Prix I was the second fastest in my qualifying heats (4). The guy that was fastest was substantially faster than me. Not just alittle, but by alot. I found it counterproductive to try to hold him off because I started to overdrive my car. It was in his best intrest, but also mine, to get him past me as quickly and cleanly as possible, then fall in behind and pace off of him. I picked up several second doing this and made the "A" main. I raced smart in the qualifiers.
In the Main I qualified seventh. I made some tire/sauce errors that made my car nearly undrivable for the first three minutes. I stepped the back end out on about the third or fourth turn and got pounded royally. I continued to try to go fast afterwards and picked up several places due to crashes ahead of me. When one of the crashers caught up with me and my crippled car I tried to race him. I should have had enough sense to get out of the way.
You guessed it, I stepped the back end out again and got punted. If I had of been smart, I would have let him/helped him get by so I could survive and would have finished 6th or 7th. Instead, I went to the back and goofed up the same driver twice. (Sorry Alex Torrico).
Guess I learned something that day......

By the way, The fast driver (Colin last name unknown) and myself lapped the other eight cars in our heats. The slower cars did a wonderful job of moving over just enough to let us by. Very few crashes and most of us raced to our potential and had good qualifiers and our heat was the cleanest and fastest.....in a word, I think we all raced well.

hey, a funny thing happened to me at around the same time...
in qualifing i started third or fourth and while entering the start/finish corner someone(Alex Torrico) came from last(10th) and the next thing i know my car was on it's lid!
why is everyone so ancy in the first turn to get to the front?
oh well it is all in the past, and i know as well, many people might not be happy about my driving in the past(and possibally the present)
(towards the end though i accidentley got him back, but i waited!, he didn't)
lee, so that is what happened to you at the gp, , i had NO motor at all! hahaha, but it all turned out well, (even though shin should not have been in sportsman stock)

Not true. At SoCal, at the source of this conversation, The qualifying runs are a heads-up race for position, not the clock. This is why you dont let the faster guy just go by.

lets say i am racing with the leader,i am in second.i am faster but he decides to close the door on me in every corner, brake check me whatever.i will stay back on his tail and hope he makes a mistake,if it gets down to the last lap or so and he is still blocking me i WILL put my front wheels in there and nudge him off of his line, it usually works and the guy doesn't usually get mad because he knows he was blocking me and i was faster.
funny story-at the cactus a few years ago i was running 4wd mod and damn if i dont get put in a qual with Kinwald, well i dont know how but i was actually in front of him for a few laps and he came up on me to pass and he put the wheels to the rear of my car and kept going. i was like ok,if he comes around again i am going to get him. sure enough here he comes (it was the year they had the tabletop in the bottom corner of the track to the left of the drivers stand with the cowbell on the pole) so i think hey here's my chance,i was a little wide heading up the tabletop and i see him going inside so i just cut across like i am going to close the door and he STILL gets his car through a spot that i swear looked only six inches wide and i hit the pole so hard the bell rings for what seems like forever!...LOL...
