Default Trains and Lanes 2008 Off Raod Racing season to begin May, 11th now running 10th scle

Hey everyone, yup its that time again, and trains and lanes is ready to start off a brand new race season, this year with a few new changes we hope to make things run smoother than ever. With the past race director now in college and into full scale midget racing, i will be taking over this year under his direction.

The schedule of starting events are as follows.

Saturday May 10th, track preparation, watering, reworking. All are welcomed to come out the day before to get things up and going.

Sunday May 11th, Practice from sun-up to approx 11 o'clock, Check in at 11:30, drivers meeting at 11:45 First round of qualifying 12:00pm.

Classes are as follows* note, we will be making all efforts to run 1/10th scale buggy and truck races. Not limited to b44, b4, t4 etc. All it takes is approx 4 people to make a class. 19 turn and Mod

1/8th scale buggies
1/8th scale Truggies,
1/8th scale monster trucks
1/8th scale buggies

any other classes will be available as long as there are at least 4 people available to race for that class.

Point Series to follow as the season gets going.

Default Which to buy?

If there was an 1/10 electric class, what would be the most common/competitive truck or buggy to get?

Which brushless motor is most popular?
2C or 3C lipo battery? (my Novak ESC will only handle 2C)
Run what you brung or stock or Mod classes, which will be the largest?

Any info would be great!

Hey, I would say the team Associated B4, and for truck the Associated T4.

Brushless, i know a few people who has the LRP VECTOR motor, i personally had one, and had a few issues with it, i think for my next brushless adventure i would probably go with an orion or checkpoint brushless motor.
I dont see any need to go wtih lipo yet, i would think a nimh 4600 pack would be fine enough. however a 2c would probably fair fine.

I think its essentially going to be a Mod class, however run what you brung is most likely going to be the case. I would reccommend that if you are going to run at our track, looking into a mod / 19 turn motor. Preferably like a 14 to 12 turn.

any more questions, feel free to give me a shout

To be honest with you, it would be the best idea that trains and lanes could think of , however i believe the same group of 8 or so people that show up every week to run minis upstairs are all about having a drifting race this summer on the asphalt. I honestly dont get why they wouldn't run 1/10th scale touring or minis outside on the asphalt track, better yet, get rid of the batting cages upstairs and have a decent sized track where you could run stock or 19t touring. But thats just my opion, When i open up my rc store / indoor off road / indoor on road track the tune will change

Im a diehard touring guy, however due to our location, i was somewhat forced to go into off road. A b4 is a fun car, not a touring car, but it made me have a likable balance between touring and offroad.

Thumbs up Thanks...

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to get some free time and make it up there soon. Not May 11th (Mother's Day) though!
