Gearing Confusion

Hi!
I am still uncertain about how to gear my car. The track I play at has a straight (6-7 parking lots in width) after which it's pretty technical with hairpins, 90 degree turns etc.
My previous final drive is 6.5:1 with a yokomo 23T stock, with 28R sorex tires. At that gearing i get wheelspin. I have since geared up (don't scream) to 5.79 this helps get rid of some wheel spin but at the cost of (i think) the motor running hotter. Actually the acceleration is better since the tires grip better instead of a moment of no grip before it moves. And it's not exactly easy to control the car under wheelspin...
I'm getting some 32Rs soon, I wore my 28rs to the belt in under 2 months
