Cool REV. A -FF03 Bodies vs RWD bodies

I just want to go on record that I'm a fan of the realistic bodies for FF03, I think with all that is available from Tamiya for them to look like the real thing it would be a shame not to take full advantage. I think that's why RCGT is so popular.
My point was allow us to run bodies other than FWD for now and by the Nationals then make it mandatory. I know I will probably go out and buy a FWD body because they do look cool! But, I would also like the option to use an Ebro or Nsx if Fred allows us that option.
Not all racers can go out and drop $50-$60 for body, authentic wheels and paint for each regional just to see it get beat up after each race. I'm not as good a driver as some of you so I tend to end up on my lid from time to time!
Just my 2nd set of 2$

Would be a cool rule for this class and definitely set it apart from the rest.

Hey you FFers,

I've seen a couple of your FF03s with swaybars.

Tom Slick, I saw you had em on at Tamiya
also noticed that Lee had em on at Cal Raceway, actually talked to Don and Lee while there but neglected to ask about the swaybars or even take note of the colors that were chosen front and rear.
Lee's car looked good, if anyone can find out about their choice that would be great.

Any info would be cool cuz I should have my set in the next couple days.

Thanks Speedtech! They are on top of the Tamiya parts scene like no one else.

I agree with Maxepower,But it would keep the class different from the rest.
but if a NSX is the only body you have I belive that race dir. has the call.
I've been running mine with a Rsx body and handles great and looks cool too!!
We'll have to wait and see what Fred says and go from there......

Lightbulb Non FWD body... on FWD chassis...

...should be required to run no rear wing...

or at very most, injection molded wing included with bodykit..

no lexan wings and/or option wing kit in FWD class regardless of body...

'Cuda, I made my own roll-bar set with parts I had left from old TA04's and 5's. Currently, a yellow bar up front and no rear bar. I think it helps. OTOH, Rod ran his car with no bars, and clearly, your car works great right now without them. So there ya go.

With all due modesty, I got out my classic old Renault Clio body from 1994 and put it on the car in short-wheelbase mode, and it doesn't need a wing. I understand what you're saying, Max, for practice. Now is the time to try out bodies and let people see what they think, and then Fred can make a decision.
Meanwhile, people, stop camping out in front of his house and then jumping out of your tent when he comes out in the morning to drive to work, to ask him, "So when are you gonna post the TCS rules for next year?" He got really mad at me for doing that and threatened another restraining order. My lawyer's getting really expensive.

Someone else's turn on the soapbox now.

Thanks Tom, and Kevin for the pm too.

Funny how nice my car has been at Tamiya (plastic shocks and assorted tires) and it was just the opposite at Cal Raceway.
I think the difference could be the spray on the track.

So stuck that it may be making the front end bite so hard that it rolls over, lifts the inside front wheel and the rear end tends to act loose on the sweeper, then stalls in the tight corners and just "diffs" out with no forward drive.
I saw swaybars on Lee's car and I'm thinkin that may be a big part of the difference between our cars.

Medium bite, no swaybars.
High traction, swaybars.

Can't wait to see, thanks again for the tips.

Hey Cuda
Yes you are correct in that I have sway bars on my car when you came over and looked at it on Saturday. However, you may not have looked close enough to have noticed that they weren't attached! My dad keeps them on so if we want to try them quickly as a tuning option, all we have to do is attach the links to the bar and we're ready to go.
Since we saw you on Saturday, I have tried the small red bar on the rear of the car to stabilize the back end a bit. All depends on the amount of grip on the track at the time you are running. No bar on front however.
I think you need to get a good set of shocks on the car before you do any serious tuning. They will give you so many more options along with spring changes to keep your car on all four wheels!
If you are lifting an inside wheel, font or rear, it usually means that the spring on the opposite wheel diagonally needs to be stiffened either with more preload or a heavier spring. You may have to go to a heavier shock oil too.

Thanks Leedude,

Wasn't sure how to find you on here, glad you replied!

Yep, I do have good shocks now, can't wait to get to Cal and try it out again.
I was just wasting time the other day with the plastic stuff and all that but it had been good at Tamiya so it was worth a try.

Look forward to bein smoked by you again out there.

Cuda,
Once you have your new "real" shocks on, bring the car over to my dad and he'll do his "balancing act" on your car for you!
He balanced Peters car last night at CAL and Pete was amazed at how much better the car worked. He now has tons of steering and no tail wag. His car is dialed and he was on very old Solaris tires!
Peter will be a force to be reckoned with at Mazda Cup this weekend in FF03! Watch out for an orange RX8 coming through to the front!

Thanks Leester! I will surely take you up on that, just say when and where and I will try to get it to you guys!

Practice last nite huh? Sorry I missed it, had shocks on yesterday and could have been there.
Tomorrow at Cal?
Anyone gonna be there?
