They do look cool, but I was just trying to get you fired up. Not my style though, I have some ideas for some schemes.

We got a lot of other things going on between now and any potential new date. We will do our best, but right now that is down the list a bit.

New Motor Fan Rule: The use of any manufacturer's cooling fan is legal. However, the fan must be no larger than 1" x 1" and must run off of the receiver. It is now ILLEGAL to have a secondary battery to power the fan. No more than 2 fans in a vehicle.

This is one of those rhetorical questions, but I gotta ask. From the new fan rules, I take it you cannot hard wire the fan to the ESC and/or battery inputs? I understand the no second battery rule, but why force people to pull from the receiver and possibly stress the BEC?

That rule should read ...
Motor (or secondary)fans should run off the reciever.
Speedo fans are usually powered internally . Making us rewire a speedo fan is REDONKULOUS!
As for the Bec.... thats actually on the speedo as well and the reciever is just a nice place to plug into. the bec can handle 100 fans... so dont worry about that .

An esc fan is ok to be wired internally to the esc, but the 2nd fan CANNOT be hard wired, and must be plugged into the BEC slot. There is no way this will put strain on the receiver, esc, or anything else.

I've gotta admit...this answer has me scratching my head. I mean, I understand that the real deal here is that we don't want another battery on board the car so as to eliminate the opportunity for nefarious and mysterious wiring combinations that might increase performance. But why deny someone the ability to run the fan off of the ESC leads or battery connection? It makie no sense to me.

How about people who use Tamiya's own entry level ESC in combination with a personal transponder? That speed control requires two plugs (one signal, one power), plus you need a third one for the steering servo and a fourth for the PT. So, those guys don't get to run a motor fan because you won;t permit them to connect it to the battery input leads?

Or how about people who run receivers with only three plug sockets & a PT?

Agreed on the BEC thing, but not sure I would be too enthusiastic about the interference or poor performance caused by using a Y-connector to join a fan to the leads for a PT or ESC.

And then there are the non-RC specific fans out there that are the right size but just don't push much air when run at the lower BEC voltage instead of the full battery voltage.

I mean, WHAT'S THE FREAKIN' POINT??!!??!!

Can we get some clarity on wheels for the off-road class? I see that any tire and insert is allowed with no extra vent holes added and that is no problem. From what I know, all 4WD 1/10 scale front and rear wheels are made to the same spec, so are Tamiya DB01/TRF501X wheels absolutely necessary? I ask because a friend purchased my old 501X yesterday and plans to run TCS at Trackside in late March. All we had at Trackside for 4WD front wheels were from Losi (which Tamiya mimicked when designing the 501X), and he was able to buy Tamiya rear wheels. So, Losi front 4WD wheels... acceptable?

I can't imagine off-road turnout to be crazy (last year we had 5 or 6 at Trackside), but I know of 3 of us running 501Xs, and hate to have someone disqualified and not be able to run because of this. Thanks for the help.
