We've been gearing our newest Red Dot GT3 motors at a much higher FDR- between 5.8 and 6.5 or so, depending on the layout. Best advice I can give you (if you're starting out with a brandy new #53689) is to start at 5.0 and check the temp after 2 minutes. If it's at 180 or above, drop a tooth. If it's 140 or below, add a tooth.

John, same thing for you but I'd start out with the small 04 spur and a 22 tooth pinion and work up or down from there.
Thanks for the help, Hope to see you at Trackside in March.

Doc,
What do you think I should gear my mini at? At all the regionals and Nationals I have been running over the last couple years I have run the 16 tooth pinion my motor temp seems to be around 110 any help would be greatly appreciated by the way who is Brandy?

Swifty, the pinion sounds about right, but I'd suggest a larger spur.

Brandy is our traveling demo/lap dance representative.
She's a fine girl. What a good wife she would be...

OK guys, last call on Red Dots for about the next two months.

We're finishing the production run now and will be shipping over the weekend and next week, but there will be no more Red Dots available after that until at least mid-April. Most of this run has already been pre-sold and prepaid, but there are still a few left.

So if you want one of these babies for the TCS race in Frederick, MD on March 15th, for the Trackside TCS on March 28th-29th, or for the start of your club racing season, let me know right away.

Motors are still only $45US each plus shipping ($6 within the USA for one motor, $10 for two or more; international shipping is quoted on request). Best way to pay is through PayPal- my id is [email protected] the same as my e-mail address. Feel free to ask any questions via e-mail.

Thanks

Doc
