Steve great report sorry to hear about your set backs but it looks like the guys rallied behind you to help you run which was cool. Its nice to hear someone speak of gratitude on the experience they were given. Of course with hard work here in the U.S. you earned it !

Couple rules questions:
* for Mini, only Type A and S-grip tires permitted? No M grips, no kit tires?

* are 26mm wheels and tires specifically excluded from all sedan classes other than Spec?
Was there ever an answer regarding the legal tires for mini?

Not yet...we need an answer. I think it's an oversight...hopefully!

not sure why you would think that...
  1. Any Tamiya M03 or M04 chassis car that uses the 60D size tire or smaller.
  2. Tamiya Hop-Ups only.
  3. No chassis lightening allowed.
  4. A proper mini body must be used with its proper mini chassis. I.E. (A front wheel drive body must be used with a front-drive chassis. A rear wheel drive body must be used with a rear wheel chassis)
  5. Tamiya 60D tires and wheels only (53340 and 53254).
New for 2009: Stuffing tires with inserts to create a "ballooned" tire, and producing overdrive is not legal. Tire diameter limit will be limited to 60mm.

seems like the rules are already set.

This is my only problem (Tamiya 60D tires and wheels only (53340 and 53254). Carpet racers really NEED to be able to run Ms and kit tires. Both are readily available and meet the 60mm rule. Not only does that rule hurt racers that are used to running Ms...but it also forces new mini racers to ditch the kit tires and then they HAVE to buy new tires just to race.

i hear ya on the Mini Rules... the only good thing is that everyone has to follow the same rules, which would probably wind up with double S's on carpet, "A's" on asphalt.
