Some sucess with a 21.5 at SIR though the power bands of the motors are so different it was tough. We don't allow them for our Silver Can Saturday series. Oh and the 17.5 is simply to fast.

still they shoot themselves in the head by forcing folks to buy overpriced tamiya rubber tires to glue up and make 1 run on. F1 becomes more attractive

Looks like Red Dot motors will be alive and well in '09! And with the legendary 4-slot a thing of the past, many will be looking for some new HP!

The F1 class has FOAM tires that you have to glue up instead...

Man, who is running the TCS Series? The Formula Stewards???

I hope there is room to consider making 13.5 brushless as the exclusive motor for GT1, to make it more consistent and even the playing field. Other classes only allow one type of motor and why making GT1 the exception?

I am happy to get some of the rules out of the way.

Very pleased with the classes and motor choice.

Yay F1 is back! Boo foam tires.
GT1 is 13.5... is that even GT1? It used to be no motor limit mod. Kinda slow now... oh well I'm looking forward to the new season!

f1 on foams is actually very nice. they dont sell rubber i'm told so it makes sense they'd go that way. still...

38bux/set + time gluing only to know that they will not finish a 2nd rd sux.

and we saw it happen big time last yr. had those w/the bread to afford them, those who were sliding all over the place tryin to make their tires last the day, and those showing foams b/c the tires were dead and the store didnt have any more b/c those w/bread and advanced knowledge bought them all up.

all that and knowing the following wk those tires are not any good to you.

Tamiya, wake up, more folks will jump into your program (now more than in the last 10yrs) if they can use the control tires they use every wk! if you want to stipulate tamiya tires for the finals great, do it. but the traveling circus (if you come) races not so.

Thanks Fred and Tamiya for getting the rules out early so we can plan before the holiday season! My daughter is ready to give spec a try, and now it looks like her Christmas list just grew a bit. It's been a while since I looked at the spec rules, but it appears more options are legal next year (aluminum shocks, carbon upper deck, etc).

Any chance Tamiya will re-evaluate allowing the 2400 Lipo in Spec? That battery has a great entry price point, and one battery will be all anyone needs.

Again, thanks for the early warning!!!
