the glen burnie race has 4wd buggy as a class on the sign up sheet...

Will the buggies just be running the road course?

Vintage class at Glen Burnie is officially an exhibition class so you can enter it as a third class the day of the event or send Gary Demory an e-mail at Tamiya USA. Also, any 26mm Tamiya wheel and tire is legal for Vintage, so if you got the first e-mail from Demory about only the older skanky vinyl tires being permitted, that has been updated to include all 26mm Tamiya stuff.

Not the race director, just trying to help while Robbie's out of town winning some big race somewheres.

Hey Doc, do you have any more red dots to bring to the GB TCS? I'm putting dibs in for at least two!

Ray whooped up on me last week with a handout motor. Since they seem to have "talent" on backorder, I'm gonna need to buy some HP's instead.

I'm watching you Mr. Webb

Me and Doc will be pitting together, and I bought all the red dots motors.

Just kidding, Can't go wrong with red dot motors.

Three weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!

I'll see what I can do, but everything I have is already spoken for () and I'm out to the beach for a week .

It'll all depend on when the next shipment of cores arrives and whether I have to do any biz travel the week before the race.

Whatever you can do for me Doc would be appreciated. If you can't come up with anything that's fine too. Honestly, I think that I'm gonna get my a$$ handed to me by these Mini guys with or without your motors. I just wanted to be close enough not to be embarrassed when time expires.

Shoot Ray, I was hoping to sneak one by you! You can pit next to Doc, that's fine. I'm gonna slide him a $20 to convice you that these tips really do work.

Know what you mean, Webb. Glad I've got a Genetic mutant set aside for myself, but honestly- the talent in Mini these days is just scary.

Is the black can sport tuned motor TCS legal? The pictures for the rules on Tamiya USA website only show silver cans for examples. But, I have heard of people using the black can. Is there a performance difference?

Nope, black cans are not legal for TCS regional events, although they have been used for the past several years as the spec motor for the TCS Nats at Aliso. No word yet on which motor will be used this year. So for the regional events, you have to use one of four silver can types: two-vent #53689 (most common, works great), four vent Johnson (no longer made, but still some out there), two-vent Mabuchi (not generally considered the motor of choice, somewhat slower), or two vent steel can Johnson (comes in some TT01/TL01 kits and perhaps others, also not generally considered the motor of choice).

Note that plastic endbell motors (white or black, very old, no longer made, but copied by some other manufacturers without a stock armature) are NOT legal for TCS events. ALL endbells must be metal.

Your best bet is to get hold of a #53689- also known as the 540J- break it in by running it in your car eight or ten times, clean it out with motor spray and relube, then race it.

Is that all you do to your Red Dot motors Doc? Wow thats pretty good I thought you had all these tricks and secrets on how you make them so fast but from the sounds of it it looks pretty easy.

Yep, that's pretty much it, Swifty. Except then I rub it all over my butt a lot, which of course makes it a lot faster.

But then, you knew that...
