racenut=2X failure...

Lots of good racing this weekend. Thanks to Fred and Larrio from tamiya, as well as all the out of towners for coming up. Good job by the whole norcal crew for putting on such a good race.

That new Porsche cup car is awesome, I want to run it at Trackside next year....maybe with a MWR styled theme Would it fit a TA-05R with no issues, or would I have to shorten up the chassis?

Registration is now open for the Glen Burnie (formerly Laurel) MD race on July 13th- go to the Tamiya site.

This is always a big one!

Should fit a TA05-R wheelbase. Only the BMW Z4 was a shortened wheel base and I was able to fit that on a TA05 for concourse by just adjusting the shims for the rear arm location only.

Edit - BMW Z4 is only short wheel base form the new TT-01 kits. Like Dragracer72nova noted and I have seen others, the MR2 from the TA04-SS has been used on the TA05R. About the only bodies that won't fit your TA05-R are the IFS based bodies unless you like the body set-up for rally configuration.

I ran a Toyota MR2 body on my TA05R at Trackside this year.
Only had to change rear A-arm location.

Well what a great weekend of Racing I would like to start off by thanking Papa ( I forgot his first name sorry) the owner of NorCal Hobbies and John Hicks for putting on such a great race the track was something like I had never run on before it was perfect. I mean the traction was constant a little more at night which results in traction rolling mini coopers. The track was smooth, fast, perfect size (any longer and Ken and Steve would have slayed me) Thanks to Fred and Larry for.........uhh......uhh...oh teching thats right you guys did a fantastic job teching all the vehicles and supporting Norcal. Off road was cool to watch the GT1 race was unbeleivable the finish was truly the best I have ever seen. The weather was great the strippers on the back straight were really hot WOW its amazing how hot those brass poles could get but those lil honeys just danced there hearts out.

Now lets get to the REAL action the MINI's:

Ken Brumbly had a motor that was out of site I mean it was FASSSSSSST. Steve "OLD GUY" Crashby's motor was no cow either they both had some serious horsepower on me and the racing all weekend was bitchen. The main came down to me driving my ass off and protecting the line and hoping I didn't get smoked on the straight away, Ken and Steve battled it out for 2nd and I prayed not to make a mistake. The best part was no drama for the exception of me wearing sandles and getting my ass chewed out but as ALL of you know me its sandles all the time. Thanks again to John Hicks and Pappa owner guy for the great race. BTW John you blew it in the main but thats okay next time come to me sooner and I will help you out. Oh just for the record SOCAL MINI GUYS RULE!!!!!!!!

I am curious to find out in the top ten in mini how many guys were running swifts and who was running a RED DOT also lipo or NIMH?

Ken Brumbly - Thanks for the close racing and keeping me on my toes it was awesome

Steve Ashby - Your old!

P.S. Really Really Really Old!

I think I would have to ajust the shims in the back for the porsche body. I copied this from Tamiyausa, "Rear suspension arms installed in reverse position to create shorter wheel base for greater scale accuracy". Of course that is for a TT-01e. Shouldn't be a problem...and I have a lot of time to decide on a body

That is exactly the same comment that was supplied with the TT-01 for the BMW Z4 body so it will fit. The front wheels will be ligned up correct and you will just need to adjust the shims on the TA05 rear arms to be more forward. You will not have to flip the TA05 arms.

Thanks for the help, I wasn't 100% sure how to shorten it up correctly. Now I can be one of the few with a sweet porsche in a sea of NSX's and Ferrari's.

If Menards ever gives me a Saturday off. It is slower during the "carpet season", so I can get days off. It has finally picked up and Matt works at Target...so we both have retail jobs that love to work us weekends. If we do get a chance, we will try to make it out for sure
