Tamiya Championship Series

Interesting.
What is new/different with this chassis when compared to the old F103 (pre GT version)?

Closest comparison is probably the old 103RX: ball t-plate, height adjustable rear suspension, lightweight diff parts...but old-style front end. Not sure if the chassis plate is the same or a slight variant.
I'll find out soon, though...ordered one of the #49848 (#?) kits from Japan this morning- comes with the "M body, clear without markings"- and we'll see what's in the box when it arrives.

Only thing that looks different from the F103-RX is the new Hop-up top plate. Even the lower chassis looks the same. Saves tooling costs when you an just dust off all the old dies and reuse.
Interesting the "M" body is clear now. In the past the old "M" was prepainted balck with "McLaren" type looking stickers and the "F" body was oddly prepainet red with "Ferrari" type lookign stickers. I thnik the letters for the bodies was purely coincendental.
With the new F103-RM, I might have a place to unload some old NIB F103 spares now.
I hope this means they will bring out some really cool versions of some of the newer F1 bodies to go with them.

Given that the F103GT class is lucky to put together a 10 car race this TCS season, I wonder if the RM would be allowed for the US TCS finals?
Looks like Tamiya Canada is allowing them in the TCS Canada series. Wonder if it will be run as an additional class or run with the GT?

Kevin, if you have one of the old F1 aluminum shocks and silver spring for sale, give me a shout at [email protected] and let's see if we can make a deal. That's the only part I don't already have...

Sounds like a lot of fun...and if it is anything like the TCS series I should really enjoy it
. Getting a miata set up shouldn't be too expensive, but I'm just saving and having a good time in r/c right now. I was thinking about doing some autocross with my accord coupe(6th gen v6 accord never came in manual)...would it be fine with an auto?

We will be running the Super Vee @ Blackhawk Farms next month. Let me know if you want to drive over, I'll get you on our guest list. Just let me know.

Yep, that's why I ordered one. I might have the opportunity to race in their Finals in Kingston at the end of July, and for some bizarre reason they think it's OK for me to race in F1 or 103, but not Mini.

If you did not hit one of their reginals or two they might only think of you as a filler. They do some weird voodoo stuff where you get points by how you finish in the top 5, each class has a cap for the finals. So if the same people finish top 5 in all their races, the probably would leave open spots. Being the Canadian series, the finals favors Canadian participation if you won mini, that might not sit too well in having to send their 2nd place guy to Aliso. You would not be eligible for the trip.

Jeff, in your wildest dreams, can you imagine me winning Mini up there? Last two years I've finished behind the Canadian champ at Aliso. And I'm not so sure their Finals are going to be all that crowded, based on what my Canadian customers are telling me. At any rate, would be a great opportunity for me to run an F1 with foam tires- it's been too long!!!

Rick, I'm referring to the older, fat tubed, longer 101/102 shock and spring set. The 201 shocks are shorter and the springs are different. But thanks for the offer. Kevin, do you have one of those older gold/pink aluminum shocks?
