For this year they should go with an end of September date. They have in the past. It gives breathing room between the IIC and TCS CT race in Aug. There is only 1 possible date in Aug and I would hate to see the "competition" of dates rule out a TCS showing with either Aliso or CT...

For anyone who's interested, the latest batch of Red Dot motors is done and ready to ship. If you're running at the Union City TCS race and need a fast silver can for your mini, GT3 or F103GT, give me a shout. We had Red Dots in every A Main at Memphis including TQ in Mini and a win in F103GT (OK, maybe that one's not such a big deal ), as well as a bunch in the B's.

This batch includes a couple of motors that fit the Canadian rules for amp draw at 2 volts (one of my Canadian customers placed on the podium at last week's TCS regional, so these work well for the Canadian TCS series)

Best way to reach me is through e-mail at [email protected]

I'd like to thank everyone real quick for helping me out over the past week or so. The owner of our hobby shop (HobbyTown USA in Glen Burnie, MD) contacted Mike Brey of HobbyWorks in Laurel and they have worked things out to where we will be the host of this year's TCS race # 137 on July 13 2008.

We will be racing our regular points series on Saturday night, July 12 2008 as well as every Saturday leading up to that weekend. We will run a different layout for TCS to ensure fairness for everyone. Saturday night will be a good warm-up to test tire and setup combo's. We are willing to create new classes if needed and make room to accept anyone wishing to race TCS on Saturday the 12th. Last year we saw Doc and a few of his friends come out and play the night before, and we're looking forward to racing with all of you guys again this year!

Thanks,
Robbie

There must be an SCCA National event or two in your home region. Where you located? What do you race?

Used to race. I started as an SCCA corner worker when I turned 18 (back in 1979). Rented a SSA Triumph TR-8 convertible and ran my first driver school for my 21st Birthday. Ran a Mazda RX-2 in ITA for about 4-5years until it all came together and I won 8 of 12 races in So Cal (Cal Club) and Vegas regions including the annual 3-hour enduro so I had to sell the car (didn't want to have a bad year after such a good one). I then bought an old IMSA RS class RX-3 that was pretty much a bare shell with a cage and built it up to what was in the '80's and '90's GT-3 class (now it would be EP class). Got bored of racing against GT-2 cars in Regionals so I moved up to National Class and also ran NASPORT (basically a West Coast Pro series based on the the old Trans-Am under 2 litre class). By the mid '90's, my little $ 20K tub RX-3 was struggling to stay in the top 5 against the 60-100K tube frame cars so I retired. Unfortunately, the new owner(from the North East) in his second race came up to lap a GT-P class car (stood for GT-Pinto's) that zigged when it should have zagged and my baby's life was ended wrapped around a tree. The driver was fortunately okay but the car was a total. My engine builder and chief mechanic is still involved in Mazda's and works for a company near Long Beach that specializes in street and racing roatary cars. Oh yeah, my weekend fun car is a '97 BMW 328is but my daily driver is a '87 2nd gen RX-7 with 269K miles on it. No budget today for 1:1 scale so I decided to get back into 1:10 scale again in '03.

Raffaelli - The Road Atlanta Nationals was the "finals" that you had to be top 5 in your region at the National level to get invited. They ran one time back in the '70's at the old Riverside Raceway and then moved to Atlanta for 20+ years. Last two years now I believe the "Valvoline Runoffs" have been held at Heartland Park in Topeka Kansas. I qualified a few years straight to be invited back when I raced but my budget was hauling what people usually thought was a circle track Ford Pinto on an open trailer behind my '75 Mazda Rotary pick-up. When I raced Nationals, the tracks I ran where Riverside (long closed down) and Willow Springs in So Cal., Laguna Seca (now Mazda Raceway) and Sears Point (Infeinon) in Nor Cal., and Phoenix and Firebird Raceway in Arizona.

Ahhh, that explains it. I thought you were hiking across the country to run in a regular National.
They do have a tow fund to help out drivers who do that now.

The Runoffs for some time were at Mid Ohio, now at Heartland.

I am jealous of your laps at Laguna. I am just starting my WTW racing. Been doing HPDE for some time now in my E46M3. I built an ITA CRX and just completed the school at NHMS. Waiting for LRP to open back up to run my first Regional.

Now back to 1/10th….

Alot of road course experience! I was just a HPDEr from 2002-2005 with a near stock 1997 Integra Type R. Sadly, never did do HPDE @ Road America or Atlanta but did about 10 events at Mid-America Motorplex near Omaha, BeaveRun in PA twice, & Gingerman Raceway (S. Haven, MI) about 6-7 times. Got to travel with a friend (who bought my R actually) last year to VIR. Very fun! My old car ...
